Ok here I go again with another question about the Force RS.
Can anyone give their comments on the complaint that this wheel feels
"notchy" and lacks precision in games such as F1RS and GPL?
Do you find this to be a problem when playing these kinds of "high
precision" games?
Now for some babble on the Logitech Formula Force:
I bought the Logitech Formula Force and tried it for 2 weeks. The wheel
was very nice, felt smooth and was very precise. The pedals weren't bad
and I had no problem learning how to use them. Sure they were small and
have limited travel, but it took me no time to get adjusted to them.
The paddle shifters were great, no complaint there.
The major complaint I had, and the sole reason why I returned the wheel
was that it lacked force. Plain and simple, it didn't have the amount
of force I was expecting from a wheel of this price ($215 CAD). Sure I
could feel effects and bumps like those you get when you hit the wall
and go over a bridge. BUT what I really would have to have felt was
stronger g-force effects. I wanted to feel the wheel tugging at me when
I took a fast turn. I went into the I-Force 2.0 to see if I could
increase this "spring" effect. But even at the strongest setting I
could still whip the wheel around with both hands without feel much too
much resistance. The resistance was there but not in any strong sense.
And yes I did have the latest 3.20 drivers.
What I'm saying is that, the forces are smooth and do come out strong,
BUT IN SOME CASES ONLY. For example, the cobble-stone road in NFS High
Stakes demo was felt quite clearly, but I didn't quite get the
impression that I was feeling the road very much when taking curves.
And that's where I wanted the wheel to show a bit of strength.
I guess what I was looking for was less of a realistic wheel and more
of an arcade style wheel where forces are sometimes exaggerated for the
"fun" factor.
It's a great wheel if you're looking for "feeling" and realism. But in
my mind, for the money I paid, I was expecting more punch from the
motor.
Perhaps I'm spoilt by my MS Sidewinder FF Joystick which produces a
ridiculous amount of force.
