Sorry for effing up the race, guys.  I really *was* trying to stay out of the
way.  First time I got lapped, I got PASTED by the leader, even though I was
almost on the grass to let him by.  I guess I should have quit then... :-(

Don't worry about it Eldred.  A bunch of us on TS were talking about how
good it was to see you racing with us.

Daytona next week!  Goodbye to the RC's!

Great to see ya on the track again Eldred.  Rather than worry about who's
behind ya just run your race.  When someone comes up on ya it's up to them
to make a safe pass.  IMO you spend too much time pulling over and not nuff
racin :)

Congratulations to Ginger for winning the Winter Series. I'll post the final
standings here when they're tabulated at the web site. I believe the top 5
looks like this:

1. Ginger Fletcher
2. Robert Huggins
3.Neil Charlton
4. David Fisher
5. Brian Oster

Was a great race though by everyone. The start was excellent, and there was
less than 3 seconds between first and 5th for the first 8 laps. Everyone
drove really well.

As for my own race, it was another heartbreaker.
Things got shook up on lap 8, and then I ended up spending the next 22 laps
anywhere between a few tenths and a few seconds in second behind Ginger. The
guy never made a mistake. :-o I pitted on lap 30, and Ginger pitted on lap
42. I had a 9 second lead at that point. Ginger cut it in half but then went
a little wide in T1. I then had a 7 second lead with 7 to go and then had a
warp incident with a lapped car that sent me skidding off the track. We both
could of given each other more room. Tires were shot due to the skid, so no
chance to catch the blazing Ginger. *Very* fun race.

Anyway, the winter series was a blast. Good driving by everyone throughout,
and I'm looking forward to the start of the Cup season next week.

That was the *leader* - no sense trying to race him.  I was *8* seconds off the
pace, and the slowest lump on track.  I really didn't have any business being
out there.  If I can't get any faster there's really no point in running.

I disagree with you here.  Yes, stay out of the preferred line when the
leaders are approaching, but trying to get out of the way can sometimes be a
bigger problem.  I have had my share of issues being *pasted* by a lead pack
passing when I was exactly where I should be on the track.  The problem was
the drivers in the lead pack not paying attention.  I also am slower than
many other drivers in RASCAR.  I do pretty well on Sierra and that can lead
to a pretty rude awakening when racing with a group of skilled drivers.
BUT, I want to drive with those skilled drivers so I can learn from them.
My main goal was last year and still is to be able to navigate the track as
fast as I can, race with those cars around me and make it to the end of the
race.  I do hope that I have developed enough to actually be competitive and
we shall see here very soon  :-)
If you are a courteous driver (you are), and follow the rules (you do) and
add to the group enjoyment (you do) then you have every right to be on the
track.  Remember, other drivers make mistakes too, it is not always your
fault.  Even if you are a *slow lump*  haha :)
One more thing,  this impression I have now because of Sierra.  Sometimes
the *GOOD* drivers need to have a slow car out there to navigate around.  It
keeps them from thinking they own the track and don't have to do anything
besides drive their own preferred line and expecting everyone else to get
out of their way.

Damn I can be long winded

And on the other foot, far too many un-cooperative lappers last night, but
that sleeping dog can lie I guess :-/

Good to see ya around again EP

Not much we can do about un-cooperative lappers.  I did my part as a lapper
and grudgingly pulled over but I dont htink there is much we can do except
preach respect for fellow competitors.  IMO this is where respect becomes
paramount.

I would "ALMOST" rather have an open discussion about the issue than bury it
and let it fester until it all explodes.

I always try to be cooperative and move over for the faster cars. But I try
to do it somewhere on the track where it will be safe for both me and the
faster car. I think the lappers should respect the faster drivers, but also
the faster drivers should respect us slow guys and wait for the best place
and condition to make the pass, and for the most part this is how it is in
most of our races. Even in real life racing the slow drivers are something
that will be a factor to other drivers, and they have to deal with them in
the best possible way.
