That's a very good suggestion, it might work. The desk I'm using is a
two pillar desk, with a lap drawer running the full width between the
two pillars. So there really isn't any space that is free of
obstruction, but I noticed that there is a 1 inch by .5 inch (w x h)
support running laterally under the front of the lap drawer. It's not
sturdy enough to handle clamping loads near the middle, but it might be
sturdy enough to handle clamping near the sides, where it is attached to
the pillars. Actually any wheel with big enough clamps could clamp to
it directly, but it is about 6 inches down from the top of the desk, so
I doubt that any wheel has clamps big enough to grab it.
