Wheel clamps

I went down to the hardware store and bought a pair of deep C clamps,
and a two-foot length of  8-inch pine shelf board. I attached my wheel
to the pine board, and then used the C clamps to attach the board to the
top of my desk. Because of the width of the board, I was able to attach
on either side of some under-desk protrubances that prevented me from
clamping the wheel directly to the desk.

Perhaps you could do something similar?

That's a very good suggestion, it might work.  The desk I'm using is a
two pillar desk, with a lap drawer running the full width between the
two pillars.  So there really isn't any space that is free of
obstruction, but I noticed that there is a 1 inch by .5 inch (w x h)
support running laterally under the front of the lap drawer.  It's not
sturdy enough to handle clamping loads near the middle, but it might be
sturdy enough to handle clamping near the sides, where it is attached to
the pillars.  Actually any wheel with big enough clamps could clamp to
it directly, but it is about 6 inches down from the top of the desk, so
I doubt that any wheel has clamps big enough to grab it.

Thanks for the idea,
Hal

And are no longer available to the general public. You have to try to find a
used one.

Yeah, instead of just pulling the 5lb. drawer out and setting it aside I get
to pick up my 40 lb. monitor, put a 5 lb. board on the desk, replace the 40
lb. monitor, block my chair up 3/4" and try to drive with the board
scootching back and forth

Much better.  : )

Leave the plywood there if it only sticks out about 3 or 4 inches.  Just
trying to give some suggestions.

Sure, because you got disco'd.  That's not beating anyone.  That's taking
advantage of someone else's bad luck.

Nonsense, you have finished up the road from me in races I've finished, and
finished races I crashed out of.
