And poorly modeled tracks.

% heh, you've obviously never seen the first 2 turns on lap 1 at
% Montreal.  (just kidding, Michael)

:) Actually opening lap mayhem is about the only e***ment I have seen
in F1 the last few years. <G>

I disagree with your comment on ubisoft.  MGPRS2 was superior in EVERY way
to F1RS, and the whole official licence thing was sorted out very quickly by
a bunch of addons from 'The Unofficial'.

Every? I know most of the people at Ubisoft would disagree.  I too :)

Btw where is the sound in the replay in MGPRS2?

It's not that there's any one thing that's terribly bad, it's just that
there are several niggling irritations:

The graphics are "busy"--not exactly pixellated, but something's going on
that makes it difficult for me to see.  I've tried several settings at
different resolutions, too.  I'm running a P3/800-Geforce so I've been able
to try just about every combo at highest res, but I have yet to find a
graphics setup I'm happy with.

No telemetry/data logger makes setups a shot in the dark.  GP2 had it, and I
got used to it.  I know there's no such for the NASCAR sims, but there's no
such in reality and there's not as much to worry with, anyway.

FF effects are pretty weak.

I don't like the replay system.

The AI problem gets pretty damned aggravating--and that's the biggie.
Trying to run a race is most likely to do nothing but***me off, and
that's not the reason I do this stuff.

I guess maybe it's main fault might be that it's not GPL--but then, neither
is anything else.  :-)  Like I said, I don't consider it junk at all.  It's
well worth a try, and I feel like I'm getting my money's worth just hot(cold
<g>) lapping.  But IMO it's nowhere close to the classic/near-classic game
that the reviews it's received from several places would seem to warrant.

BTW Nos, reading some of your posts have convinced me that I have to give
SCGT a shot.  I'm planning to look for it this weekend.

Looks like I'm going to have to pull those V2's from my old rig and put them
in this new machine after all.  Maybe that'll give me a different outlook.

The lack of track inaccuracy was very apparent to me as soon as
I fired up the game.  The sound is also pretty shit and the AI

It breaks my heart but I have to agree with Francois on this
one;)

At the present time, I am running only the Nurburgring
track.  I am doing that so when I watch the race this
weekend, I'll have a good idea of where I am when I see in
car views and a good idea of what drivers can do and where.
I have been running with a full grid and have seen only one
(that's a single, solitary, alone, no one else involved,
car) spin out on any curve.  However, that DOES NOT include
me and my *** ups which cause other cars to spin.

I just think you either hate the name EA Sports, or think
that a sim being released today should give you the feeling
of "g's" in turn, allow you to smell the *** on spins,
the fuel vapors in the pit, and feel the drinks being thrown
at you as drive by knocking a fairly good simulation of
Formula 1 motor sport.

Hopefully all of those issues will get addressed in future versions. I
don't like Nascar racing and Indy Car is not being produced by anyone
so I've just got my hopes on EA making F1 a long series that will
improve every year.

Won't cost you much and it is a lot of fun. Just add some of the hacks
to make it a bit more realistic.

Don't know about the rest of your complaints, but the sound is easily
fixed with new sound files at BH Motorsports.

Yea, and where is v3.0 with updated seasons etc. Looks to me like EA
is planiing to make F1 a franchise title. Ubisoft let the chance  for
a long selling series slip through their fingers.

Hmmm, my copy of F12K does all of that.  Must be a problem with yours.

Yeah, whatever...

That would be great.  I had hopes that was where Ubi was headed.

Maybe EA figures the only way they can make money with F12K is to release
new versions with some of the features we've come to expect like telemetry
as "addons".

Oh for God's sake, please let's not start up this again. It's been done to
death.  Different people, different opinions, different attitudes to blades
of grass being misplaced.
