+ at the end of the lap time signifies a Fast Lap that's been driven under
'standard' conditions. These conditions are: 70-75 deg., 0-2 mph wind.
If your time on the list meets these conditions and does not have a +,
let me know and I'll put it there.

If you have any records (either times or speeds) please send them to me and
I'll add them to the list. Please put 'ICR Fast Laps' on the Subject line.

doing these times!! Can you post your car set-up's maybe??
Most of those are a LOT faster than mine. I broke 215 at Indy
and thought I was rocking...Geez.

It takes several weeks to get fast on any oval, and then another few
weeks of permanent testing and tweaking of the specific setups. You
also have to know exactly how your input device responds. Basically -
this is not just a setup question. Most people can't drive these fast
setups - those who can came up with them themselves and know exactly
how to keep it on the edge.

Basic recipe: lower your wings and ajust the gears. use al the tools
the setup allows to maintain traction with less downforce. Read the
manual and experiment, this will help. Tire temps are them main gauge of
what is going on.

Also: I don't pst my fast setups - way too much work and pride in
them to just post them to the world. We exchange setup among racing
partners, but not to outsiders ;-)

Ok, Peter. I'm up to 220 at Indy, and am working to improve my speeds
on other courses. Still haven't mastered the Road tracks :-(, but
can really rock at Michigan... Now I need to find some local people
who desire to race..

ICR Fast Laps

by Henrikki T H{kk{n » Wed, 23 Nov 1994 23:08:57

Hello Racers, or should I say Indycar racers now that Nascar is out
(no sight of it here though :-( )

Time to check out the latest ICRFL, ie. Indycar Fast Laps.
The list has a new look as well as a couple of new fields. They are
'steering device' and 'damage on/off'.

Also the big news is that the List is going on-line! That is, fully
automated! It will require some getting used to and carefulness from
your part when submitting new records. You can still send records
the usual way, to me, but I emphasize you to use the automated
e-mail address.

I will attach the help file which you can obtain from the above address
any time you feel like it. Put 'ICRFL' to the subject line and
'send help' to the body of the email.

The new list will follow in the next post ...

---- ICRFL HELP FILE ----

                               ICRFL Help (v1.0)

ICRFL stands for Indy Car Racing (tm) Fast Laps. It is a kind of
mail list where you can send your fast laps to register them and
can get the latest list as well. Every mail you want to send to
this list should have the subject 'ICRFL' exactly. To start send
a mail with subject 'ICRFL' and put the line 'send help' into the
   body of the mail.

The program can interpret the following lines from your mail:

Reply-To / Return-Path mail header lines.
The email address in these lines overrides the address in the From line.

send help
Send this helpfile to your email address.

send list
Send the 'Indy Car Racing (tm) Fast Laps' list right to your (email) door.

Driver: <name>
Sets the name under which you appear on the list to <name>. You
can change this name any time. If you don't specify this line
your email address will be used in the list.

Record: <recordstring>
Report a new fast lap to the list !

The format of the recordstring is the following:
(I denote an alternative with '|',
[<something>] means that <something> is optional.)

   <recordstring>:
     <TrackName> <Time>|<Speed> [<Speed>|<Time>]
     [<weather>[<steering device>[<damage>[<setuper>]]]]

   <TrackName>:
     Australia  | Cleveland    | Detroit       |
     Elkhart    | Indianapolis | Laguna Seca   |
     Long Beach | Michigan     | Mid-Ohio      |
     Milwaukee  | Nazareth     | New Hampshire |
     Phoenix    | Portland     | Toronto       |

   <Time>:

   <weather>:

   <steering device>:

     Record: Long Beach 52.001

   d)

     Driver: Max Mad

( If this arrives from the same email address Driver: Mad Max came
from, every Mad Max on the list will be changed to Max Mad.)

   e)

Record: Michigan 241.111 mph       s wheel y       Tina Turner

(Tina tuned the car, weather was standard, drived with a wheel, damage
      was turned on.)

   f)

     Record: Indianapolis 224.224       - j
