The IVGA released this track at www.iracingfx.com but several of
you had problems getting into there forums as you have to turn
off your cookies.  So we have made the track available now
from www.ivga.com.  Its on the front page!

==========================================================
Wide Tona Day Plated Track is publically Released and
More Tracks are coming from us and our strategic partners!

This track is provided to you by Don & Suellen Wilshe
of the www.ivga.com, since 1994.

This track is very easy to install just save the program
and your NASCAR 2002 directory and run it. Its
only a small .exe, but it takes your existing software
that you bought from Sierra/Papyrus and creates
Wide Tona Day Plated that has a widen track and
modified track.ini files.

Track: Daytona, but its double wide
Carburetion: Restricted or Plated

Some modified track.ini values!

track_type = 3     ; super speedway
chassis_type = 2    ; super speedway
track_asphalt_grip = 1.39
track_concrete_grip = 1.99

What does this mean!   The races will be scored as
Speedway, The times because of the grip and chassis type
will run about 3 mph faster.  The type 2 chassis will
allow for a lower rear spoiler and modified rear
suspension! Expect Qualifying times at 40 cloudy around
191.7, Up from 188.7!

In the future the 3 other sister tracks to Widetona will
be released.  They are the 2 night tracks and the day
no plate track.

We at the IVGA would like to thank the author of this
track Fred Anderson for his great work, everyone that
has driven this track just cant say enough great things
about Fred's design.

In the future we plan to release other tracks that will
test your skill and need for speed!

Don & Suellen Wilshe

PS.  We have tested this track now for 2 months on both
Windows XP, 2000, NT as well as Windows 95, 98 and ME. We
provide no warranty and user can use this at there own
risk.  Enjoy, hehe!

How did you get the forward***pitview? I see it in the screen shot
wideview2.jpg http://www.racesimcentral.net/

I find the standard***pit limits the view too much. The nose cam is too
low, and the roof cam is too high, but this view looks just right for me.

There are a couple versions of that view hack floating around.  I think Tom
Pabst put that one out and there was one out prior to that was basically the
same view.  Don't have the link for it now but will post it if I find it.  I
tried it and deleted it soon after, as it didn't do much for me.

Nice FPS in that pic though, all 24 of them ;)

Does it still have that tiny mirror?  That was one of the biggest problems I
seen with it.

Also keep in mind there were a number of issues getting that view to work
with all car makes as I recall from the discussions on it before.  Can't
remember if it was fixed or what the fix was but you might want to search
google for more details.

true..  I think the view doesnt like OPEN GL or somethign like that
dw

but I like it and it does make me faster.  I can see down the track
much better as I***pit race and at bristol you can see all the track
instead of the bottom only

    There is apparently a bug in the track: the grip coefficients of
turns
1/2 vs. 3/4 do not match up, at all. With plates, it doesn't matter, but
with
plates off, once I start to wear my tires down a bit (after lowering
some
things in the .ini file like tire heat and yes tire wear), I can still
hold it low
full throttle into 3 and 4 (doing ~230 MPH), but in 1 and 2 after awhile
I have
to do some lifting, or I will get a very bad push (yes I set it for no
wind and
65 degrees).  I checked the banking with a protractor and all turns are
the
stated 31 degrees (plus 18 for the trioval)...
     Being ignorant of technical matters of this type, I have no idea
what
the problem is (I thought asphalt was asphalt as far as the core program

was concerned), but if you plan to race sans plates just a fair
warning...
