SCGT How do I remove dead zone completely?

by Gadget? » Thu, 06 May 1999 04:00:00

Hi,
Can someone help me out?
I can reduce the dead zone but I cant seem remove it completely.
I found a little program that removes deadzones in windows but my
computer or MSFF wheel dont seem to like it. Im using windows98.

This is quiet a good sim(porsche's are a *** to drive) but I cant
stand dead zones on my wheel!! It sucks so much it puts me of the game
completely! :(
why cant all drive sims be as good as GPL?

Thanks for any help.

Did you find the control section in SCGT?  From the main menu goto
OPTIONS.  Put the mouse a the bottom of the screen to pop up the other
menu.  Choose OPTIONS.  Now choose the controller tab from the top.  Slide
the deadzone to the left.  Isn't that easy?  Sheesh.. why didn't they just
keep the menu buttons on the bottom showing?

I find the steering is ok -- no dead zone with the 1.2 patch and Advanced
options program set to pure Sim mode.

Jason.

The 1.2 "Patch", is not a patch - it is a very good fan created update that
puts in the names of real drivers, and adds better (for the most part) sounds.
An official patch hasn't been released by either ISI or EA yet, though the
"Friends of ISI" seem to've been very very busy...

Go to www.wingmanteam.com, Logitech's unofficial support site, and
download their nifty DXtweak utility.  It reads directinput's settings
and allows you to modify the parameters for each axis of your
controller, such as deadzone, center point, end values, etc.  Be sure
to read the instructons first, but this is the best such program I've
run across yet.

Yes! Thanks, it works great. :)
But I think you have to revert back to 5 if you play MGPRS2 as the
sensitivity is reduce.....or is it because im getting too used to one
sim and find the other undrivable. eg. GPL :)

Thanks again.

Hi Gadget,

Well to be a little more specific.  Move the deadzone slider full left.
Move the sensitivity slider full right.  I have the "adjust with speed"
slider full right in case that makes a difference.

I tried moving the sensitivity slider a tad from the right and the wheel
acted like having a deadzone -- kinda like how the demo drove.

gadget.freeserve.co.uk says...

I'm also using the MSFF wheel with SCGT and there's practically no
deadzone at all if I don't wish there to be. Are you sure you're not
accidentally using some preset profile which has DeadZone set to
something other than minimum. Take a look at the MS SideWinder Profile
Activator. Each profile has the "DeadZone", "Pedal Range of Motion", and
"Pedal Separate/Combine as Y" settings in addition to the standard
programmable actions.
