N2 with the keyboard

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone on this newsgroup plays N2 with the keyboard.
If so, any advice? It's going to be awhile before I can afford even the
cheapest of joysticks, so I've got to make do with this for now...

I haven't had much luck yet, and I honostly don't know if I am not
good with setups or if the keyboard is holding me back..

TIA,

The cheapest of joysticks runs about $10... (assuming you already have a
game card.) even one of these will kick the keyboard's butt.

The keyboard is utterly useless as an input device for steering in
competition. (Imagine trying to drive your road car with just three
possible inputs: more left, more right, or neither.)

I started out with the keyboard.  It was alright just to drive around the
track and look at  the graphics.  For competition, forget it.  Next, I went
to a joystick.  Big improvement.  You could actually race the other cars.
Next came the Thrustmaster.  That's what you want if you can afford.  I got
the T1 and my driving ability improved.  Next, I got the T2 and that was
even better.  Hope this helps.
