The following is an extract from an email response Rick Genter sent me.

"Another rumor regards the Daytona track.  Will Papyrus (or Sierra) try to
obtain the rights for it?"

We will try, and we have NASCAR's ear, but even Sierra can't compete with a
behemoth like Sega. If Sega threw, say, $5Million at Daytona, I think we'd
have to say "Congratulations."

My bet is that when NASCAR II is released, it will include Daytona.

Anybody else have comments.  Maybe the NASCAR organisation should be
innudated with faxes, emails etc to give them the message that the
only sim that does NASCAR justice iis not made by the Japanese (I'm
not being racist, just realistic).

It depends on how controlling Sega is with the rights, and if they'll allow
Papy to use them. I personally wouldn't look for it, but who knows?

I agree. NASCAR racing is just about the only 100% american sports around (not
that mixed country sports is a bad thing..dont get me wrong) but it would make
sense that the company who makes the #1 auto simulators HANDS DOWN should have
a shot at simulating the greatest race track in the world.

Faxes and letters do not equal $5 Million.  It's about MONEY.  Racing is
a FOR profit deal.
