Monza crack for F1GP

Calling crack boffins,

I downloaded a crack hint for F1GP called f1gp.unp.  This just gave a list
of bytes to search for and change in gp.exe - to set the password to Monza.

This works fine until I try to calibrate the joystick - the entire range
detected by f1gp is 0000 to 0001; not a useful sensitivity.  Back to
the manual.

Any ideas why this effect is seen?  I have v1.05 by the way.

I believe the list of bytes to change is slightly different for different versions
- you could have changed the wrong ones.

After a lil' bit of snooping around, I managed to 'monza' my unpacked GP.EXE.
Unpacked, because my gp-editor requires an unpacked gp.exe.

Anyway, I do not have similar difficulties with joystick calibration.
Everything runs as smooth as silk, just enter monza for password and go...

Where could I find such a crack?  I love to play at lunch time, but my boss
doesn't like me having the manual around.  Thanks!

Can someone tell me how to change the bytes and such stuff in F1GP for
the cracks? Do I need a special program? Thanks

The one I got - which created havoc with joystick calibration - was from:

ftp ftp.inf.tu-dresden.de
cd /pub/ms-dos/games/

I've not had any replies about other sources.

try ftp.uwp.edu: /pub/msdos/romulus/cracks

the crack there don't give any problems with your joystick

I used f1gp_all.txt - it lists the crack for all versions of the game.
I hope F1GPv2 doesn't contain any of this braindeath.

How do you change the bytes and such in the game as described by this
crack? Also, the crack patch for F1GP doesn't work. I run the program,
and when I run F1GP the copy-protection has some page number and
parapragh number in the hundreds. Then, Whatever I type I can't get in
the game. I have to reinstall the game.

I got mine from ftp.uwp.edu:/pub/msdos/romulus/cracks.

There are two or three txt files ( f1gp*.txt ) which describe how to 'monza'
different versions of the game.

I have also a similar txt file, whose instructions gave me unlimited Q-tyres.

I used Norton DiskEdit, but you can probably use DOS Debug too (can
anyone elaborate on how to do that?)

I never tried that one. You _did_ copy GP.EXE somewhere else first in
case it went wrong, no?  Perhaps the crack program should've mentioned
that...
