In that case, you'll end up buying a sim with all the "right" tracks and
"right" cars, it will be shit to drive, it will have support for the
mainstream controllers only and will simulate no aspect of roadracing.
Because every penny went into the legal department.

If *you* want to spend your shitloads of money on that, be my guess. I
won't.

I meant that I am racing N2003 mods online now. TPTCC, and soon it will be
GTP. User created cars on user created tracks. None of the Papy original
tracks. What's the difference between that and what I will be doing with
rFactor, except rFactor will have better physics, graphics, sound, and very
possibly multiplayer?

That said, I also only want to race on only very high quality mods and
tracks. I think there are plenty of good tracks made for F1C that will
quickly become available for rFactor, so I'm not concerned at all.

For a "fantasy" title, LFS offers very attractive and extremely raceable
tracks right out of the box.  They are certainly tailored to the lower speed
of the cars featured, but they offer a lot of good overtaking possibilities
and some nice corner sequences.

I stopped playing LFS because of the tracks. About every track had a
'feature' which wouldn't make it in real life, IMO. The city track for
example, which was back then (still is?) very popular online. In some
sort of a chicane there was a *** bump. If you slowed down, you got
hit from behind, if you didn't you landed in the armco.  Every race it
was a mess in that area.

Since there is no damage in LFS, racing online was just Quake
Deathmatch in cars...even Monza T1 in GPL wasn't that bad..
I do prefer real tracks. Not because I'm such a realism freak,
but because I'm too laze to learn them all...

Cheers!

Funny thing is, I was just thinking how good of a job Team Redline did
on Spa TR since the difference between it and Simbin's version in GTR is
approx = 0. Bathurst? The list goes on. There is a certain novelty and
atmoshere generated by real life tracks and cars, but if the sim isn't right
then that's all out the window. And multi done right is the most important
thing for me ----> GPL and Nascar. Both fit into the category of "been
there, done that" and neither would have been in my top 5 preferences for a
sim in the first place anyway.

Theoretically at least, the track's the same for everybody, so if you
have a decent-standard group of racers, this should not be an issue
(hard to find in free for all LFS races, I agree). Not only is there a
bump, but the track surface changes to cobblestones which seem to be
extremely slippery in that section (I *hope* LFS models that, or I've
just made myself the laughing stock of RAS ;-)

Cheers,
