I don't know where you come up with this.  At the CART race at Fontana
there were 73 lead changes among 19 different drivers.

How is that "follow the leader"?

In a way that is the problem I have with Nascar.. I really gave N4 a
looong try, I appreciate it as a sim, technically it's better than GPL
in every way  imho.
It's not the oval racing I have problems with, but it's the conserve
your tires untill the last 5 laps strategy I don't like. I want to
race on the limit all the time, like you do in Rally or in F1.

It's kind of frustrating to battle for the lead the first 495 laps,
and then some guy from the rear wins the race because all he did was
follow the pack. I know, it's the strategy you should follow to win,
but I just don't like it :)

Most of the races I've been in in N4 aren't won that way.  It can make
a difference to save your tires, but you aren't coming from the back
of the pack in 5 laps regardless of the tires condition.  (Unless by
"pack" you mean 3 or 4 cars).

Online races are generally too short for that sort of stuff to have a
major influence (unfortunately).

Personally I would like an option to reduce gas mileage about 50% to
force pitstops in short races, maybe even an option to increase tire
wear similarly.

By the way, have you ever actually driven 495 laps in NASCAR 4?  Which
track?

Agreed.  Sometimes a slower car can win, but it won't be in this scenario.
If a faster cars engine blows, wrecks, etc., sure, but that can be said for
any of the motorsports.

In the years I've been racing the Papy Nascar sims online, the vast
majority of the time, the faster car wins.......as long as it's not a pickup
race :)

Heyyy!  Actually, I *don't* crash much in online races.  I'm just too slow.
There's a difference.  Like I keep saying, that's why I prefer full-damage
races.  That way a fast guy can't crash, shift-r, and still lap me...

I know. It was a joke.
Something I learned from Tom, you can say anything you want, as long
as you tell it was all a joke afterwards :)
