The Santa Cruz is a superior soundcard for music.

Lots of games these days are very complex when it comes to sound (EAX, A3D,
Dolby surround sound etc.) and have soundtracks too so a good sounding
soundcard is important for gamers too.

does the santa cruz support midi, soundfonts, etc.?  Does it have a capacity
for multiple inputs and outputs?

And how much is it?

Yep. DLS soundfonts, up to 64 in hardware, up to 1024 in software. Has jacks
for front speakers, rear speakers, versa jack which you can use for
headphones (this is how I use it because I can leave the headphones plugged
in and just use a software switch to give them priority and turn off main
speakers)or you can use the versa jack for digital or analog 4.1 speakers or
a virtual 5.1 mode. Also has mic in, line in and your joystick/midi port. SC
also has a 10 band graphic equalizer done in hardware, has MP3 hardware
acceleration, supports EAX 1.0/2.0, Directsound3D, emulates A3D through
directsound3D if needed, ILDS (some other 3D sound API, maybe got the
acronym wrong). Has a load of effects you can set like reverb and chorus
etc.

About $50.00 USD if you shop around.

The Audigy only does 5.1 decoding in software I think, does the Sonic fury
or any other do it in hardware?
