GP2 install -help!

by John Eaga » Thu, 10 Jun 1999 04:00:00

Hi all. I realize this probably reads like something just came out of a
time warp, but here it is.

I'm trying to install and run the copy of GP2 left behind by a late
friend. The install program on the CD appears to run normally, but my
first problem is that the SETUP utility installed in the main GP2
directory on HD fails on the autodetect, and trying to set it manually
pops up an error message insisting that my Soundblaster 16 is not
compatible with a Soundblaster 16. Uh...OK.

Then, when I try to run the GP2 EXE, I get a message saying it can't
find F1STATE.DAT. Running GP2 nostateload doesn't do it either.

This is all on a machine running MS DOS 6.2, with CDROM and SB16
hardware and drivers that function perfectly with everything else.
Plenty of free conventional memory. What the hell is going on here? If
anybody can help, please email. Thanks.

Is your BLASTER environment variable set correctly?
The most compatible settings are  I/O 220, IRQ 5, LOW DMA 1, HIGH DMA 5

Umm, its been awhile but did you try a full install?  Maybe the CD-ROM is
not up to speed causing the F1STATE.DAT error.

I have a SB16 on my home machine with GP2, I can give you more details if
you need'em.

Jason.

Hi,

This is the same problem that I posted on Tuesday, except
you've explained it better.  No solutions yet but it's nice
to now I'm not alone.

Colin
