NASCAR setup problems

by Brian Wong - SMCC Product Marketing Engineeri » Fri, 17 Feb 1995 12:35:59

My IndyCar sponsors just bought a brand-new Chevy Lumina, ostensibly
for a new team that they're forming.  Of course, since there is only
one garage, it was left where I could play with it :-) Anyway, I tried
running it - I figured they wouldn't mind as long as I didn't break
anything.  Well, I guess I broke someething.... :-)

Seriously, I installed a new copy of NASCAR 1.1 last night.  I figured
to have zero trouble installing it since my IndyCar setup works very
well indeed, but that was apparently a silly assumption.  I am currently
configured with an Thrustmaster ACM high-quality game port and the
Thrustmaster T1.  It works precisely and correctly on IndyCar 1.05.
However, when I attempt to set the controls, the accelerator just won't
take!  NASCAR seems to get NO input from the accelerator pedal at all.
I used the brake pedal as the accelerator and a button for braking and
it worked fine (I bent a lot of sheet metal but didn't really brake
anything too bad - sorry Dave).  But I can't figure out why I don't
get anything from the accelerator.  It calibrates correctly (in fact
it calibrates with almost identical numbers from the IndyCar setup)
so I *know* it can see the port.  The steering and brakes work fine.
What am I missing?
