Only the host machine (The one that answers) needs the CD. So yes, you
can
Thanks for the reply, It worked. Now next stupid question is can I copy
some file or edit something so I don't need the CD in either machine.
- You can install N2 on any PC and run it 100% from the HD. That's
easy to do.
- When you want to play IPX network or online Kali games, there's a CD
check that pops up on the starters PC. This check can be disabled but
requires hex editing three different locations in your nascar2.exe,
plus the folks here would go nuts if I posted it here, so I won't. But
just to answer your question, yes it is possible.
- I recently installed the N2-3DFX and ran it in DOS. It runs great!
I'd suspected the CD check for multiplayer would be there in
nas3dfx.exe & gns3dfx.exe. Loaded my IPX drivers, started the game,
selected multiplayer, answer, *boom* the "please insert CD" message
came up. A few minutes later, after hex editing, it was disabled.
Raced on Kali last night in four races with 3DFX and no stupid CD
check.
no_cd check disablers in alt.binaries.cracks & alt.cracks I won't
post the info here, sorry.
