I don't brag much about my GPL laptimes... much :o) But here are some of
my recent best laps:

Brands Hatch                    1:36.91
Kyalami                    1:20.98
Mexico                    1:48.99
Monaco                    1:28.11 (tonight!)
Monza                    1:28.74 (left foot braking, only way at Monza)
Osterreichring                    1:47.46
Watkins Glen                    1:05.58
Zandvoort                    1:26.54 (my favourite circuit)

All these times, with the exception of Monza were done with the default
setup and using right foot braking. How good am I? :o) I'll upload some
replays now to alt.binaries.simulators.autos... if you are more
interested than that New Zealand girl was tonight... but that's another
story!

why don't you download gregers setups and give them a go ? When you can do
those times with default setups you could be in the top 10 if you drive
gregers (or any other hotshoes) setups ...

Because I want all the glory to myself :o) I don't want to share with Greger!
Setting up a car takes a long time. I prefer to think about my braking, my
line and my clipping points when I drive a circuit instead of "hmm, I need to
go stiffer on the RF, the front roll bar could be softer"...etc. I'm not sure
I could be in the top 10 anyway. It'd take time to adjust to someone elses
setups, however good they are.

I couldn't upload my files to alt.binaries.simulators.autos :o( Anyway the
file was like 1.6MBs and no-one's THAT interested in my times :) However you
can download my Monaco lap, as I am particularly proud of this one from
http://swindells.virtualave.net/monaco.zip I can send you other laps by
email if you request them privately....

BTW, http://swindells.virtualave.net will take you to a preview of my new
site layout... very early stages though.

You give lessons dude. I tried monza last night after a few days at
the ring and felt like my driving had improved. However the best I
could do was 1:31.24 in the brahbam.  I guess all the time is gained
in the curva grande and the second lesmos?

Of course not. None of us would ever sink so low as to brag about our
times (says the current world number 93 at Spa with a 3:19.07...).

http://www.parc-ferme.de/fastlaps.htm is Schubi's Hotlaps Site, which
is where you can see the top 100 in each circuit. There are some
*seriously* fast times there... Now, comparing your times with those:

71st place. But then, only 73 people are on the table...

You need about half a second to get in the top 100.

78th place.

80th place.

You need 1:27.76 just to get on the top-100 board here...

96th place.

Hooray! Somewhere I'm faster than you, at last! (my PB is 1:05.47). But
to get back to the point: you need to be sub-1:05 to show up here.

You need another eight tenths to get into the top 100.

Better than me, that's for sure. What's your Spa PB, BTW?

Yeah, I crashed at Brands Hatch on Saturday :o(

Not too tricky, you get used to it.

Doubt it, I wouldn't mind having a crack one of their races though.
Unfortunataely I think you have to committ to at least 4 or more. That's a
bit expensive.

3:19.58 at Spa. I've done 17's/18's in the Eagle, but I only ever driver
the Lotus nowadays! :o)

Yeah, you need alot of balls for Curva Grande. I sometimes frighten myself
with how late I brake going in there, but still somehow manage to make the
turn. The Lesmos are tricky. Again you brake as late as you possibly dare,
and of course a good exit from the 2nd is vital bacause there's a long
straight after it. I'm just stating the obvious really, no real lesson in
there...

So what is your opinion of right foot braking? I've got a squash ball
under my lwff pedals but i also own a set of ch pro usb pedals (i also
have a paif of non usb ch pro pedals that i'll be happy to sell for
cheap). I've been fighting the move to left foot braking and your
times suggest to me I can continue to resist. Have you tried left
foot?

I doubt it, actually. Remember, Rob was using the *default* setups
everywhere but Monza. If a way could be found of verifying it, it might
be interesting to have a hotlap league table for the default setups.

In any case, I don't worry about someone like Rob beating me - he's a
*real* racing driver, after all. It's when everyone else does I get
depressed...

No, I used the default setup for Monza too, but I used left foot braking
for that lap.
