Exiting GP2 video problems

by Jgree » Sun, 03 Aug 1997 04:00:00

After running GP2 in a DOS box in Win95 and exiting the game, I experience
a loss of my Start, maximize/minimize, program exit, and scroll boxes.
They appear as a black area, but will function if you click on them. My
wallpaper also disappears. I have tried disabling the wallpaper but the
problem persists. It is a new Pentium II system with a Matrox Millenium II
video card. My old system never did this when I ran GP2 in a DOS box in
95. Game performance is vastly superior with the new system and the
problem is more of a nuisance than anything. Has anybody else experienced
the same thing? Any ideas why this occurs? I would appreciate any help
with this. Thank you.

------------------------------------------

I have the Matrox Mystique 2 meg card in my 5x86 133mHz machine and
have had the same problem. The cause seems to have been  the last two
updates of the Millenium/Mystique drivers and BIOS files. Sorry I
don't have the revision numbers for you, but I can tell you that both
of the updates that caused the problem were released in July.

To eliminiate the problem, I reinstalled the older drivers and BIOS.
Things are back to normal now.

For what it's worth, I didn't notice any appreciable improvement with
the newer drivers and BIOS.

Sounds like a graphic card problem?

Have you got the latest drivers for the card?
Check out the matrox web site.
