It actually _asked_ me to do this the first time I ran it.

I found that the only thing that seemed to be affected was that when I chose
to drive in the Nascar Cup races my engine sounded suspisciously like a GT
car.   ;o)

I then copied the sound folder (as modified by the GTP installer) to a dir
callet GTP_Sounds.
Then I copied the original sounds dir from my backup back to the sounds dir
and all was well.

A couple of simple dir renames and I can get my GTP sounds back when I want
them.

I have tried hard for figure this mod out.  Every step was taken not only
by me, but my business tech director as well.  When we attempt the startup,
IT REBOOTS my ENTIRE system... Can anyone formulate a step by step to make
it easy to understand...Maybe someone like redline??? Why go through the
trouble to put something this exciting together, and then do such a poor
job of helping us enjoy it?

A:  Install a new clean version of Nr2k3.
B:  Install the patch for Nr2k3
C:  Test the new patched version
D:  install the mod, let it choose the pathway
   E:  Run Config.exe
F:  All that probably won't work, so install the patch again, this time
inside the nr2k3 folder.  You now will have two versions of the gtp mod,
the one inside nr2k3 should be the one that works.  Run that config program
again, and then use the gtp launcher shortcut to start the program.  Choose
a chassis, and choose day or night cars.  Then fiddle with the various
options.  Once you get it working, you can 'probably' delete the first
version of gtp.
Notice I am saying NOTHING about Vroc...that is even MORE confusing.

Odd that the EULA for N2K3 says only one copy may be installed, and
then the FIRST-legitimised GTP requires a second install of N2K3.
Hmmmm.

So if FIRST says it OK, you can ignore the EULA, but if they don't
say it's OK, you have to respect the EULA. I thought it worked like
trade marks: you either deneded them or you let them lapse. There is
no halfway. Sometimes I wish I _was_ a lawyer. I'd love to have an
informed opinion on a lot of this  stuff.

Thank You Dave, I shall try those steps once I get home.  If there are any
more bugs, I'll post another help message...Fingers crossed!

Thanks,

I was too optimistic Dave, it still crashes and reboots ANY 2nd
installation of 2k3.  I discovered that when I followed your instruction to
"Test the patched version."  It starts at the GTP launch, I choose a
profile, click Start, see the sierra animation, then just Boom! Back to the
reboot.  Any thoughts???

Thanks,

Turn of automatic reboot first, and look what happens then. I had to add my
old player file in nascar to play gtp.
It can take some time to get everything running, but it's worth the trouble
;)

GTP Installation

From the range of experiences in this thread, it's obvious that there are
many, many issues, and questions about the proper installation and running
of this mod.  Considering the level of e***ment and anticipation many of
us had while waiting for it's release (and re-release), one would think the
creators of GTP would take an active role in supporting their creation, and
enhancing it's reputation.  Can anyone say that this confusion, and
difficulty enhances anything positive?  Why is there no active support role?

For 9 seasons, I've hosted a weekly racing show in the 9th largest U.S.
market, Atlanta, Georgia.  Over the years, I give away plugs for anything
related to our racing ***ion (helps if I get that allowance in writing
first!). If only this was only to be another like tptcc & OWR, the pit's
T/A, etc...
Those were easy however. This one's become a joke.  From the looks of it,
I'm not the only one that feels this way.  The last thing I can do  is
recommend this hassle to other folks, especially if it harms other programs
on their systems, and especially, especially if I can get blamed for it!

Hopefully we can all get to the point of enjoying it as much as we
anticipated.  From the little I have seen so far, shows great
promise...Right before it crashes to a reboot...over and over, and over....

Does anyone know why the support has up and scattered to the four winds?
What don't they want us to know?

A project they have been working on for over a year got crippled.  Would
YOU be energetic supporting something that barely resembles your original
effort?

Exactly.  That's my point.  We all know of their problems, but better to a)
Not release something clearly flawed, or,
   b) Release it, detail the problems, and work with folks instead of
complaining with excuses about how their project was torn up.  Hey, back
when this thing did work for 5 minutes, it was easy to see that it's a
tremendous project(why else would we all be complaining), but it's also
easy to see the obvious copyright infringments.  We all***up, but
better to make one's***up right, than to whine about it.
