The track in 1999 is completely different than the track used in 1967.

Only the "back-stretch"small part of the 67 circuit is used, and the cars go
in the opposite direction.

Here is the Forix information page about the circuit :

Hi,
I've just  been reading on another NG the laptimes in practice by the
current F1 cars at Kyalami, and the times seem to be considerably slower (3
to 4 seconds a lap ) than the times from 1967 (GPL era ). So I was wondering
if anyone knows what changes have been made to the track and if any maps /
diagrams are available on the net.

Ok, I've just found out. Theres a chicane  just before "The kink" ,
apparently a very slow chicane.

The differences are a lot more than just the kink.  The circuit looks
completely different, plus they're racing counter clockwise now.  Go to
the following website:

http://www.forix.com/asp/nc.asp?k=0&l=2&r=6701&c=0

Then compare the circuit maps for 1967 ...
http://www.forix.com/asp/ci.asp?k=0&l=2&r=6701&c=0

... and 1992-93:
http://www.forix.com/asp/ci.asp?k=0&l=2&r=9201&c=0

If you were to drive the new circuit clockwise (like in 1967, GPL), you
will notice that you would turn left at where Barbecue Bend (the 2nd
right hander in GPL's version) used to be, leading to a whole new
sequence of turns.  After it comes back to roughly where the 1967 track
used to be past Barbecue Bend, the rest of the track looks very
different as well.

So comparing lap times is completely meaningless.

Do any sims have this layout?  It falls right between the seasons
modeled in GP1 and GP2.

You might want to try Kent Windridge's excellent Kyalami '93 track for
GP2. It's not that new but it's very good and so probably still around
at www.grandprix2.com .
