each carset uses 39 cars/drivers, and each carset has a corresponding .lst
file.  Sounds like your missing one of the .lst files.

I had to do a re-install of NR1999 and now I am having trouble.

I moved all of the cars out of my NR1999\cars directory before I deleted the
old game. I reinstalled it and put the cars in the \cars .dir. The game only
shows that I have 45 cars in there, but I did a search and it showed that there
are about 90-95 .car files in the NR1999\cars .dir, but they aren't showing up
in my game. Wgat am I doing wrong and how do you correct it?

I had the same problem trying to install a new BGN carset when some
cars didn't show up. I unzipped them again to \CARS and they appeared,
also check if you have a .lst-file that uses these cars that usually
makes them appear.

It is only showing 45 cars on the left side list of the Drivers Info page where
in the Sierra\NR1999\Cars is showing 96.

What now?

I thought that you made a .lst after you got the .car files in the .dir. What
if I get cars with different file names [wc99_3 as opposed to rd99_3] from
different sources?

If they're not in your .lst, you won't see 'em.  The carnames
and their corresponding entry in the .lst must be spelled EXACTLY the
same (tho it's not case-sensitive). So if any of your cars have been
renamed, you'll need to name them back.

My question is:

Why are they in the C:\Sierra\NR1999\Cars but not showing up in the game?

Sorry to reply to my own post but....

No matter what .lst files that are in the NR1999 directory, they should at
least show up in the game on the Drivers Info / Competitor List, shouldn't
they?

No. ONLY the cars in a specific .lst will show up on the left
column when you select that list to view the drivers from. You can
click on the down arrow next to "Drivers List" (I THINK that's what
it's called) to select from the different .lst files you have. Sounds
to me like you're gonna have to MANUALLY make an .lst file that has
the cars missing from your other lists.  NOT an easy task if you have
a lot of different carsets your experimenting with.
Most important to realize: without MAKING your own .lst file,
you CAN NOT take cars from one carset and mix them with cars from
another. EACH car you intend to pick FROM must be in your .lst file to
select it.
