Any suggestions for Rally Masters player?

Playing Rally Masters: Michelin Race of Champions from Infogrames,
US version 3.1.

Is it me or is the game really biased toward Canary Islands? All the
drivers seem to do EXTREMELY well there. I can usually blow away
all the other drivers by 10-30 seconds in all the other stages except
US (that course is TOO short) and Canary Islands. I had actually done
1:17 there once in a Corolla WRC, and 1:16 in an Escort WRC. Then
there comes this AI driver doing 1:15, and I really didn't make any
mistakes! What's really bad... This was on EASY level! (I beat the
Championship and all the other modes on ROOKIE already).

Is there any trick at driving on the Gran Canary course? My best time
was done by virtually wrecking the car, as I slide into the outside wall
and all that... Is that the way this works? Or is there bit more of a
trick
to it? Is there any replay files I can look at?

Likewise here. I really hope it's just us. ;) I think the trick is
going to be the first turns past the start-finish and the turns before the
cross-over - I'm just terrible in both places. Can't get a good entry, can't
get the car sliding the way I want, etc.
Who else likes the buggy? I can seriously whup Neal Bates in the
buggy, hehehehe.

Buggy is a GREAT vehicle. It handles and slides just perfect, much
better
than any of the WRC cars. I personally consider the Audi WAY
overpowered.

The S1, I presume. ;) Yeah, no traction to speak of, and no sense of
just how FAST that thing is, either. *looks over shoulder* "yeah, that was
my braking point...." PRANG!!!! Crank that thing up and look at the
speedometer; it's QUICK. And likes to get airborne, too...ouch.
If you like the buggy, I bet you're like me in that snow racing
business, too: total domination. Once you figure out the graphics (knowing
the turns), it's lift, a little opposite steering, pedal. Love that stuff,
especially the 4-car wrasslin' on the long course....whooooo!!!!! Buggy on
snow....;)
They reached the perfect balance in the "locked out" car 'n' track
business, too. I haven't unlocked anything yet, and I DON'T CARE!!!! I'm on
the edge of doing it, and it's challenging AND fun, so what the
heck....hell-bent on some Italian back road, who cares! Great game/sim.

Robert

WAY too much horsepower. Doesn't one of those have enough
HP to give a NASCAR vehicle competition?

I use keyboard for throttle and brakes, joystick to steer. That
COULD be one reason I'm not getting too far. :-/  But I was
good in MOST of the other car sims... NFS:PU, DTR... Oh well...

game/sim.

I consider this "lack of variation" in the Canary Islands results
improper
play balancing. They should not expect "Champion" level performance
at "Rookie"or even "Easy" level!  :-/

BTW, I posted a message on Digital Illusion's webboard about this. No
response yet from any one. Wonder if they read English? ;-)
