So you've found the magic setup too? ;) 9.37 here :)

I'm not sure if what I'm doing is even relevant. I'm not driving the
line on the flat area around the bottom, which is what I assume the
track was meant for. I'm riding the edge around the top of the bowl.
Where are you doing it ?

Could someone post some screenshots, or describe it? I don't have GPL
and it sounds.... well..... ok, I don't know what it sounds like, but
it's interesting.

I agree!  And I finally have a track where I can consistently beat Clark by
a margin of 33%!

You guys are mad!

Simply put, it's as though you're driving around the inside of an huge bowl
(hence the name of the track).  Its a short track - if you're a NASCAR fan,
imagine Bristol on steroids.  While the "racing line" is drawn toward the
bottom, you're able to flit about the rim of the bowl perpendicular to the
plane of the ground.  It reminds me very much of those threads about modern
F1 cars having sufficient downforce at speed to drive upside down in a
tunnel.

And believe me, if you don't have GPL its well worth getting even without
the benefit of this track.  :-)

Say, do you have any inside info or was that just an intuitive guess?  That
Monza banking reference has me wondering - after all, it is labeled as a
test track.  Monza with banking would be brilliant!  But isn't there some
problem with having the course double over itself?  Seems to me that there
was quite a bit of talk about this some time ago.

Hey look the AI works at ovals!
It would be nice to remove the infield and put asphalt instead. (Dunno if
it's possible, guess not)
We would finish a lap everytime we make a donut. Would be a weird view at
VROC...

Here are some screenshots. The track has no straights, just one
continuos turn!

Top of the bowl. Down to 9.33. I don't think it's possible to go
much faster. But it doesn't really require any Alien driving
skills, that is true. The trick is the setup and keeping the
car straight. Once you've figured it all out you've been there
done that, and can go back to train at the Ring :)

Same here, Andre.  I tried for over an hour to figure out how to get
quick enough to go under 12 seconds and not have the bottom of the car
start scraping, but to no avail.  My best is 11.4 and its usually the
lap before I take off skywards. :(

I've tried easing off when I hear the scraping, but then I'm back over
12 seconds again and it doesn't seem to matter one jot which car I try,
or what line I take.   So I'm 3 seconds off the pace of 8 to 9 seconds.
This is ridiculous. :(

On the GPLEA forum someone recently mentioned that he was working on a
banked Monza. No concrete facts, I just keep my hopes up!
A banked Monza would be -so- cool!
