I'm kind of a do-in-yourselfer and think this might be a fun project.
Thanks.

I remember building my first wheel 8 years ago, alot of fun. I found that
the project never ended it just kept getting improvments. Worked more on the
wheel and pedals than I raced, but it was still alot of fun.

Also a lot of the flight sim home builders sites have info that you
will find relevant.
I built a wheel and pedals acouple of years ago and still use it all
the time. If you put time and thought into it the result is very
satisfying.
Better than the cheesy plastic things you buy in shops. The only
disadvantage is no force feedback. That is rather difficult to
implement for the home builder.
