If I'm reading into your post correctly, I believe Norton Ghost does
what you want. I have version 6.01 (or something similar) from 1999 and
when I boot into DOS with my bootable floppy, I type the following to
get Ghost running and split the files up nicely so that they can be
archived onto CD's:
Ghost.exe -split=646
This specifies that no image file should be larger than 646MB.

Look for a freeware utility called GSplit. RAR it down to 1 file then
GSplit it to 2 CD size pieces.

Yeah, but does it image whole partitions - retaining their primary/logical
status so you can restore as was ?
