Technical challenge - Help needed with NFS III

Even tho NFS III isnt a "serious" sim, I was hoping someone would be
kind enough to respond anyway (I usually drive GPL and N3 if that
helps  :)(begging now begins........)  The problem is that when I
launch the program the screen goes black for a few seconds then returns
to the desktop without starting the game.  I am running a Voodoo 3000,
PIII 500 mhz, and Soundblaster Live card.  I have no problems with any
other racing sim.  The NFS site technical support sucks, and I have
even corresponded with EA by email and their lame suggestions did not
fix the problem.  Anyone?

Never mind.  Installed DirectX 7a (thought I already had it installed)
and the problem was solved.
