GPL software crashes

by SKJ » Fri, 31 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Has anyone else experienced my problem?

I have had GPL for a year and have not had a session without the game
crashing randomly on me leaving me ready to throw it into the junk pile Can
anyone help with a patch etc.?

Thanks

GPL software crashes

SKJ,
I just purchased this game (after waiting too long) and upon
installing it tonight, I cannot finish more than ~15 minutes play
before...

1) The game crashes to the desktop.  No messages.
2) Blue screen of death: "VXD blah blah VXD blah blah"

I have 2 computers, the SAME problems have randomly happend on both.

Machine #1: Win 98, Celeron 300, ATI Rage 128, 224MB RAM, Xterminator
joypad.

Machine #2: Win 98, AMD K6/2 400, Voodoo 3 3000, 64 MB RAM,
Xterminator joypad.

On 2 computers?  I have a local network betwixt the two, but that's
the only other real similiarity.  They boot pretty different configs.

GPL software crashes

by Rip Rect » Sat, 01 Jan 2000 04:00:00

SKJ,
I just got GPL for xmas.  I've been wanting the game for over a year,
and it took this long to get it.

It randomly crashes on me!  AAARRRGGHH!

I've searched all over the web trying to find out any info on this,
and your message is the first I've seen that confirms I'm not alone on
this.

My crashes:
1) A blue screen of death, "VXD crashed blah blah blah VXD blah blah"
2) Just dumps me to the desktop.

Get this:  I have 2 machines that have the identical problems.

Machine #1:
Celeron 300, ATI Rage 128, Windows 98, 224MB RAM in software mode.
Gravis Xterminator USB joystick.

Machine #2:
AMD K6/2 400, Voodoo 3 3000, Windows 98, 65MB RAM in GLIDE mode.
Gravis Xterminator gameport joystick.

(Yes, I find the Xterminators to be a great stick.)

Anyone have any "safe boot of GPL" options?

Now, to find this "OpenGL" patch I've seen mentioned...

You should go to www.3dfx.com and get the latest drivers for your v3
you can get the opengl patch at www.papy.com but i don't think it works
with your ati card

Jarno
