Help with N99

Just found this board. Kinda like finding mecca. Is there a way to fix the
restart problem in N99 ? On every restart the cars ahead
start..pause..start...stop,,,then GO ! I'm not exactly a computer genuis so
please forgive naive questions. What is a patch and how do I use it ? Can
someone tell me how to make the game score you as the car # that you want. In
N99 I am car # 76. I can paint new # but am still scored as car 76. Any
websites with setup help and general suggestions on N99 would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you verymuch in advance.

Welcome!!

Restart problem: Not sure there's a fix, I agree it is annoying.

Patch: Software written, usually by the developer, to fix know bugs in their
product. It is typically available from their website. To install a patch,
you go to the site that has it, and download it. With IE, your given the
option to either "save to disk", or "open it". Choose the save to disk. Be
sure and save it in a temporary directory, or one where you know it is. I
save all my patches in a folder called "download". Once you have the patch
dowloaded, you need to install it. Go into the directory that contains the
patch, and double click on it. It should launch it's installation program,
and proceed to patch. Sometimes it will be in a zip file, and you'll need to
extract the files. Then, after extracting, double click on "setup". Please
note, there is not N99 patch at the present time.

Car#: Go into driver info, and click to the right side of the driver  name.
Here, you can change your name and the car# your driving. Be sure and click
save when your finished, or it will revert back to default.
