I think you typed the specs for your old card by mistake. When's your NEW
card arriving? ;-)

Ah, the memories.  I remember when my Ti 4600 arrived in Feb 2002.

Thankyou for that! :-)

But it out performs many newer cards, and for the difference in price the
small reduction in performance compared to a 9700 is well worth it IMO.

LOL

I have a 2 pc lan

9700 Pro in one

4200 Golden Sample in other

there is NO comparison

The aim of any gamer is to have all the graphics on full and push AA and
Aniso as high as possible without adverse effect to the fps.

9700 you can do that

4200(any version) you cant.

I have currently got a GF2 MMX 32mb, so it might not be that impressive to
those of you prepared to spend 300 quid on a card, but I think I'll be
pleased with the improvement ;-) (At least I hope I will!)

For 60ish quid is a great card and not that much different to the 9700 that
was in my other PC (may it rest in peace).

I was using a GF 4 mx440 and I bought a used visiontek ti4200 128meg for 60
bucks shipped. WOW! what a difference. The ti 4200 is a great jump
up..especially from a gf2 you will be very happy when you see your frame
rate go over 200+

Enjoy and have fun!!

Seriously though, I took a hard look at nVidia when replacing my creaky old
Voodoo3 and the Ti series is the pinnacle of their success. The FX cards
fell flat on their collective faces, with the possible exception of the
stupidly expensive 5900.

One benefit that you will not notice unless someone tells you ...... so I'll
tell you...... is that the Ti will happily play most of your older games.
Had you changed to ATI like I did, you would also have a substantial discard
bin like mine. I know because when I sent my 9700 Pro back to ATI to check
why it was so full of crap, the dealer lent me and old GF2 4xxMX for a week
which let me re-install almost all the discarded games. ATI's verdict on the
9700.. sorry, card is fine. Verdict on the re-installed games
.....un-re-installed.

Enjoy :-)

If you're still getting blur-o-vision at AA meetings then you may have
missed a few of your 12 steps.

I've not got anything near 200, (in F1C) but I have found that I can pick
whatever resolution I like, and there is no change in frame rate. Now
running in 1600x1200 :-)

I need to play with things...

As I have 128m video card, and 256m RAM, what should I set my AGP aperture
to? I'm thinking that lower is probably going to be better? What about Fast
AGP write, what does that do?

I'm currently struggling to get 50 fps (F1C) with a decent level of detail.

Anyone got any tips for BIOS settings, video settings that I may need for
F1C?

GPL is running beutifully, with everything on, highest res, and absolutely
no slowdowns whatsoever. Finally! ;-)
Is there a patch that allows a higher frame rate than 36?

Thanks.

<snip>

Not necessarily for F1C (or even *** in general), but the best Bios guide
on the 'net is here:
