The Average Drivers Club is Expanding

The Average Drivers Club has been going through some changes. Now that
all is set, it's time for the ADC to start looking for some new
members.

What is the ADC? The Average Drivers Club was created as an
alternative to random pick-up races at VROC. The ADC is designed to
bring a little more structure and consistency to our member's on-line
racing experience. All racers are expected to drive in a gentlemanly,
courteous manner; not a win-at-all-costs mentality. All races are run
at VROC from a password protected server.

We have a large track list which has been chosen to include a variety
of challenging and fun tracks. This list will be updated from time to
time to include the vast number of add-on tracks available.

We have three divisions, North American, Euro, and Australia. The NA
division runs Wednesday evenings at 8:30 pm EST (01:30 GMT). The Euro
division also runs on Wednesdays, at 18:30 GMT. The Australia division
runs Sunday evenings at 7:30 pm Melbourne (09:30 GMT). The race format
is Intermediate Long with a 30 minute practice. Also, we have what we
refer to as the "Big Race"; all divisions get together once a month on
a Saturday at 21:00 GMT for a race.

Don't be mislead by the term AVERAGE. Our drivers run 1:29 and up at
Monza and high 1:05's and up at Watkins Glen. Basically if ADC members
were compared to the drivers of '67, we would be in the middle of the
grid. However, all skill levels are welcome, from rookie to alien. We
have a good mix of skill levels, so usually everyone has someone to
race with.  Common practice (although it's not required and is totally
voluntary) is for alien types to drive a slower car to keep the fields
tighter. Slower drivers should not feel intimidated, however. Everyone
makes mistakes; so don't feel too bad if you're involved in an
incident. Just try to be careful. A good rule of thumb is to drive as
if you were actually in the car, and an accident could cost you your
life.

The ADC is a club, not a league. There are no championship standings
but we will post race winners in the Speedgeezers forums so everyone
can have bragging rights at some point or another. The primary
emphasis is on having fun. Imagine it as a group of friends getting
together and renting a venue for the day.

Nice.  I've never committed to a league because my hectic lifetyle means I'm
not always available for races ; )  I lost interest in VROC after a while
because people either took it too seriously (aliens) or not seriously enough
(noob wreckers)

This might be what I need to again spark my interest in GPL.

Kudos for a great idea.

Thanks for the kudos, Damien, but I don't want to take too much
credit. The original ADC concept was hatched by a gentleman named Greg
Cooper from the Eastern US. From the beginning Greg and I have been
tweaking this thing to get it where it is today. I've simply inherited
the reins several months ago due to Greg's schedule getting a little
too hectic.

Sounds interesting......

So, does one have to formally join the club somehow, or just show up at a
race?  I couldn't find clear instructions at your site.
