> What do you think is the toughest turn to learn in CART Racing?

I think that the last chicane(and the rest of the track) at Australia
are the most difficult.  Cleveland is one of my best tracks.  The
corkscrew at Laguna is very difficult also.  Portland and Toronto aren't
very difficult for me.  I think that RA is my favorite circuit overall.
Sure would be nice if someone would piece together a Road Atlanta.  It'd
be cool at the end of the back straight, 205mph, having to jam the
brakes, downshift, go under the bridge and then take that final right
turn onto a narrow front straight.  Also, Lime Rock would be fun.  You
know what would be real cool, would be a Pikes Peak hill climb
simulation.  I wonder if you could make the whole track go uphill and
then warp to the bottom when the summit is reached for another go.

What do you think is the toughest turn to learn in CART Racing?

Turn 4-5 at Mid-Ohio
I had a very difficult time learning this turn.  Because it's
blind, it's difficult to judge when to get on the brakes going
into turn 5.  And it first seems that turn 5 is faster than is
actually is-it's not.  It also seems to be off-camber.

Turn 7-8 at Laguna Seca
I don't think it's as difficult as it seems.  But again it's
blind and it's difficult to judge the braking distance.  But
        with a little practice...

Turn 7-8 at Portland
I find it difficult to determine how fast to go into this turn
lap after lap.  If you go in too fast, your into the wall!  To
do it consistently takes practice.  But I usually find myself
        in 4th gear for 7.

Turn 11 at Oz  (the most sophisticated chicane at Oz--the last one)
The car seems to jump up and down---and if you go to fast,
        your in trouble!

Turn 11 at Toronto
I just can not do this turn!!

Turn 4 at Nazareth
It's hard to do this turn *consistently*

Cleveland!
Pick your turn!  It's difficult to judge the appex.

Turn 1 Phoenix
I never liked this turn!!  Except in ICR1

Favourite turns?
Turns 6-7-8 at Mid-Ohio
I get goosebumps when I drive this set of turns.

Turns 3-4-5 at Portland
I find this just to be fun to drive!  And passing in the chute
        between 4-5 is just incredible.

Michigan
        For the shear speed.

Turns 4-5-6 Long Beach
4 is a difficult turn but not that difficult to master.  But
going through 5 flat-out after 4 is great.  Great place to
        setup a pass.

The Carousel at RA
It's great to be able to pick a good line through the turn
and see how fast you can come out of the turn.

Turn 1 at RA

* I also loved turns 9-10 in ICR1 at Laguna.  You could go flat out
through there.

* I don't know Detroit

Drove Laguna for NASCAR2 before I joined the The Pits No Piracy Program
and loved the corkscrew!  In fact I loved the whole track!

Also had Cleveland and HATED, and I mean HATED turn 1.  I guess stock
cars don't do so well there. . .

As for Phoenix, I find turn 1 hard in a stock car even after 1000 miles
of testing. . .

: What do you think is the toughest turn to learn in CART Racing?
: Turn 7-8 at Portland
:       I find it difficult to determine how fast to go into this turn
:       lap after lap.  If you go in too fast, your into the wall!  To
:       do it consistently takes practice.  But I usually find myself
:       in 4th gear for 7.

The faster you go in, the more stable the car is.  I usually hit it flat
in 5th, lift between 7 and 8 and brake/downshift to 4th for 8.  Power out
of 8 to keep the back end behind me and then slam on the brakes and down
to 1st for 9 which I take wide and fast slipping out to the wall.

I used to lift on this corner and take it in 4th.  Always got it wrong.
Then I just took it flat one day and it held.  I can do 56.9s at Portland
and I find that this complex is the most important if you want to get a
good lap.  Well, ok, it's all important, but this one helps a lot.

PS - I only use a 5 speed here so flat in 5th is fast!!

: Turn 11 at Toronto
:       I just can not do this turn!!

It's flat out.  Set up for it early by "short-cutting" ten.  Turn early
and push past the pit wall will put you on the outside for 11 which is
flat out.  Toronto needs more wing than you would think.  Don't try to
turn late in 10 and then "get back over" for 11.  You will have to lift in
11 then.  Turn earlier in ten and hug the wall and 11 is flat out.

: Turn 4 at Nazareth
:       It's hard to do this turn *consistently*
: Turn 1 Phoenix
:       I never liked this turn!!  Except in ICR1

Think of these as the same corner.  Both have slight banking and are
entered with a high speed factor.  Also think trail-braking.  It will help
you turn in, then jump on the gas hard to keep it lined up or you may lose
it coming out if you lift too soon and too hard.

I always downshift one gear for both of these corners.  That also helps
scrub some speed so it won't push on the way in/mid corner.  Heavy on the
rear brake bias is the key (ie ALL the way to the rear).

My most disliked corners are:

Detroit - 1 and 12.  Always go too deep here.  It usually kills the lap.

Laguna - 3.  Again, too deep.  It's not as fast as it looks.  ;)

Long Beach - 8.  Even though my best is 50.7s here, this corner is the
absolute most crucial for that good lap time.  I'm very
                 inconsistent in this corner.

Mid-Ohio - 1.  Hate it because it is so much slower in the game than in
real life.  I think this is the most "incorrect" track of
               all tracks included.  It's bad.

Australia - the whole track.  HATE IT!!!!!  Can only do 1m29's. :(

Best corners:

Road America - Carousel.  Enter it flat in 4th, push out to the grass,
come full off the acclerator and the car turns itself (diamonding the
corner), jump back on the gas and feather it until the front end sticks
and exit at 145mph!!  It rules, but I can't do it as consistent as I'd
like.  ;)  Mostly exit at 130-135mph.

Milwaukee - 3 and 4.  The car is on rails!!  Can't get it wrong!!

Ok, so these are my "home" tracks, but it's true.

No I can't.  I meant 57.9s, but that was over the modem.  I am only at
58.114s in solo mode.

Another great turn is turns 12-13 at RA.
Though I gotta admit I don't like turn 11 cause I sometimes lose the
backend---though I found if I shift to 6th before going in I can avoid
that.
