Irvine is one son of a ***. He tells Ferrari that if next season he is not
the number one driver of the team he will quit Ferrari, (anyways who needs
him?) cause he says that he is better than Schumacher cause Schumacher makes
too many mistakes. What the *** is he talking about? Anyways even if I hate
Irvine, I still what Ferrari to win, so let's all wish good luck cause he
will need a lot if it, just as much as he had in Austria and Germany.

Beg to differ but the way I read it he want to be the # 1 driver when
Schumacher returns later this season.  Schumacher has it in his
contract that his teammate is prohibited from finishing ahead of him
if both are still running , and are running 1-2.  I love F1 but what
goes on really makes you scratch your head sometimes.

I believe Irvine simply wants equality, which he can't get.
He wants as good a car as Schumacher, he wants the team to support
him, and he wants to be free from being told to lose to Schumacher.

Irvine's negative comments about Schumacher are a perfectly
human reaction to being told he is inferior and being humiliated by
having to sign a contract which institutionalizes that situation, ie
he is contractually obligated to lose to Schumacher.  Nobody with the
necessary ego of a racing driver should have to put up with that.  No
good racing driver could put up with that.

F1 is a devil's trade.  They let you drive the fastest high
tech cars, they pay you a fortune, and they treat you like scum.
Irvine should go to CART or even NASCAR, where all this nonsense is
exactly that.  Failing that, he should at least realize that the team
can always sabotage him and there is no way to enforce what he wants.

Well *IF* schumacher returns I think that he would not want
to spoil the WC for Irvine just because he has some lame
***like that in his contract (if he really has that clause).

If that clause is in his contract I would think it is intended
for him if he is leading the WC and has a shot at the title.
Otherwise I would be pissed too if I were Irvine.

Sorry about that - I take back the bit about offensive posts on RASf1 I got
you confused with someone else :)

I still think it might be better to keep the posts on topic though - such a
strongly worded and opinionated posting is only going to create a thread of
arguments and negative replies. RASf1 would be a far better place for this
post if you really felt the need to get it off your chest :)

Eddie said at yesterdays press conference that he didn't say those things about
Shumi.  Just a reporter trying to stirr things up.

Until the end of the season Irvine will be driver number one, cause
Schumacher now has no more chances to win, but next year Irvine wants to be
driver number one again, but I wonder who Ferrari will rather have, Schumi
or Irvine? And Ferrari wanted to get rid of Irvine anywise, Barrichello will
probably be Schumacher's sidekick next season, but until then let's hope
Irvine doesn't disappoint us. Anyways I have to watch the qualifying now.

(You know who I would rather have)

Irvine has had equal equipment since 97 on, in fact he even has a lot
more testing time than Schumacher and still he's never (with maybe one
exception) been able to reach him under race conditions. He's just in
different league and apparently lost any sense of reality due to those
last two, very lucky wins.

I don't think it's a 'perfectly human reaction' to slag off his entire
team as well as his team mate who can't do anything at the moment due
to injury in public after all what they have done for him. Without
them he'd still be the nobody who'd only be remembered as the idiot
who once got punched by Senna for his driving style.

Yeah, the #1 driver ***bugs me sometimes.  Like when Coulthard had to let
Mika pass a couple of years ago after Mika's pit crew screwed up.  You'd NEVER
see that in Cart or Nascar.  Even though I like Mika, I think it screwed
Coulthard out a win he deserved...

Which a dejanews search seems to verify but really... this is *way* OT for
this NG.

On the other hand, there are lots of people who would like to join you in
Irvine-trashing on rasf1 and lots of people to argue with.

Put on the Nomex and have a ball.

Dale.

Hmm.  According to Autosport, Irvine had only one day testing the 99 spec
car before this season.

I also don't remember Irv slagging off Schumy.  From what I hear, his
version of who's who in F1 reads like this:  Schumacher, Irv, everyone else.
He slags off others (especially fellow brits, for some reason), but not
Schumacher.

I agree that he's an idiot, though.  Can't stand him myself.

Cheers,

Mark
