Is it possible to offload the data files from the CD ROM version and
run the SVGA version from a hard drive?  The company was too cheap
to buy a CD ROM when they got me this Pentium 90.  I have a friend
with a CD ROM so I do intend on purchasing the game!

Have you tried "Hard Disk Installation" from the install program?  It is
supposed to copy everything to the HD.  I know it works for the VGA version.

Yes I did it on my machine with SVGA.  Don't even put the CD in
now.  WOuld see no reason you couldn't backup and put it on your
Pentium.  Buy the CD back it up and put in on you machine, it
        should work fine.  IMO

The entire game can be installed to harddisk.

NASCAR is it possible......

Thanks to all who helped me with this problem.  There were numerous
solutions offered and most of them seem to be workable.  Here is what
I did.

I had my buddy with the CD ROM drive create a zip file of the entire
CD.  He then downloaded it to the companies AIX system and I uploaded
it to my PC.  I unzipped it to a mapped device on our Novell network
(more on this in a minute) and ran the installation as described in
the instructions.
The only problem I faced is the installation routine assumes that
the source files are in a directory called NASCAR and it wants to
create a directory called NASCAR.  I tried to install from the
hard drive in a directory named something other than NASCAR and it
can't find the files.  If you name the source directory NASCAR it
tells you that files are already there and wants to delete them
prior to the installation.  My solution was to create the NASCAR
directory on one of my mapped Novell drives.  Once this hurdle
was overcome the rest of the installation was a snap!
