More than who? A real F1 driver like most other channels? (Don't give me
Martin Brundle. I said "real"!!)

Yeah but you like F1 or you don't....if you get ITV in your area then you
have to listen to him....
Otherwise...like most, you listen to your own knowledgable commentary crew.

Murray is jsut another example of Brits over-glorifying everything about
themselves...

Yeah but I'm an enthusiast.... you're an enthusiast..it doesn't mean we're
Gods gift to F1.... if Murray does know as much as some say..why does it
fail to shine through...

With a choice of Brundle/Murray or Kennedy/Collins I for once have no
hesitation in opting for the Irish presentation.

Yeah, sure, Muddly Talker was a great guy and all that, corrsuscatingly
gauche Spoonerisms, etc.; but you don't realize how far off base he was most
of the time until you hear his blithering commentary on "Lap of the Gods,"
which was on Speedvision last nite.  Sometimes, of course, he was spot on,
but most of the time he sounded like he was from the Planet Mugwump.

I totally agree - sport is all about passion for me - especially from a
spectator's point of view.

That's going to take years for me to decipher. ;/

Rod,

All the more so since I misspelled "corruscatingly," which was one of JFK's
fav words.  It means "brilliant."  He called somebody "corruscatingly
stupid" once.  He also favored "suppurating" which comes from the same root
as "suppository" and is generally applied to the same place.

Here in Thailand we get Star Sports and the commentary team is abysmal;
wrong due to stupidity rather than silly Murray-style mistakes. Occasionally
someone brings out a tape from the UK and we watch the whole race again, and
Murray makes it come alive.
If I were younger I would wish him as my grandfather!

Even spelt correctly it rings no bells ;)

Seen alot of strange words, but that one is completely new to me.

Cheers,
Rod.

IIRC Terry Pratchett uses "coruscating" in one of the Discworld
novels, which I took to be made up - though alt.fan.pratchett
or a.f.p.books would be a better place to discuss this ;-)

Dyslexia rears its ugly head again!  Yer rite--coruscate *is* spelt w. one
'r'.  My OED sez it indeed means 'brilliant'.  At least I got that part
right...the rest was a sound byte lodged in my mnemonic mnetherworld since
1962 or thereabouts.  Picky, picky, picky....

If people have to resort to flinging obscure words around in an attempt to
'sound' brilliant, then methinks even the attempt would be a failure before
it begins.
(doncha just love sentence run-ons...my English teachers could never break
me of the habit.)

Obscure?  Not to the President of these United States.  Am I being too
harsh?  I used a word that *means* brilliant, not to *sound* brilliant.  For
the latter I would resort to effluvia like obfuscate or hebephrene.  Quad
erat demonstrandum...or something.

I wish you could remember the name.  It sounds like a good laugh...
