Nice thought....but I think that the advantages gained by the cheaters
might affect the real racer's results?

It's better the way it is... don't let them race at all.
For some, blowing the doors off the competition would be all that
mattered - and being disqualified at the end would not be a big enough
deterrent. Why would they care? The still would get to race. And
you would be frustrated.
Imagine you are in a race with 15 other cars. They all leave you in the
dust for 25 laps. That's no fun - at least for you. Even if they are
all disqualified, you still don't get to race door to door with other
HUMAN opponents - which is the reason for Hawaii!
If you are happy racing with opponents that are way too slow or way too
fast, just run against the AI and save your money.
