Faster turn on Indycar racing 1.05...

Hi all racers,
I just got this game for 2 weeks and have been playing with every night.
I have a question about making a turn with decreasing curvature (e.g. U-turn).
I was wondering what is the best way to drive thru those turns?

The manual suggested to brake and down shift before entering the turn, then
accelerate after I pass thru the apex. Since the turn like that will have a
late apex (e.g. 1st and 2nd turn on Laguna Seca), will be be faster if I drive it as:
1) adjust the brake bias towards the rear (don't go all the way)
2) when approaching the corner, brake and turn to the direction of the turn
sharply (this is down by press left (1st turn on Laguna Seca is a left turn)
and release the direction button right the way.)
3) most likely at 140mph when braking and turning, the rear wheel of the
car will skid. That can position the head of the car in the direction of
   exiting the corner.
4) accelerate when the turn has come.

in 3) above, if the car starts to spin too much, steer the wheel in the other
direction of the turn. Note that turn that way will have a lot of smoke coming
from rear/all wheels during replay. (I found it to be very enjoying seeing those
smokes.) Anybody has tried this before?

Is 1.05 the latest? I sometimes got bomb out on replaying some video files. Is it a
bug?

Thanks for the attention.

sayeth unto thee...
[SNIP]

There is an excellent article in Motor Trend (or maybe Car and Driver) this
month.  They took a couple of racers out on Laguna Seca (sp?) and did
a computer analysis on how they took the turns (one of which was turn 1, the
big U-turn at the end of the stretch).  They looked at the proper speed,
braking, steering, apexing, etc for several turns on the course.

I was amazed at how helpful the article was (clearly about REAL driving) for
my driving road courses in Indycar Racing.

Later...

Hi,
I think the article you were mentioning was printed a  couple months back
in Road&Track Magazine. Don't remember the Issue, but would guess about
May 95.
