MaxMTU net speed utility

Has anyone tried the MaxMTU net utility with Kali or Kahn.  Does it
really speed up your connection.  MaxMTU is a utility the tweaks win95
net connections to speed things up.  If anyone else wants to try it
out it is at, http://www.racesimcentral.net/~netpro/maxmtu.htm.  If you
have any luck with it let me know.

MaxMTU net speed utility

I installed maxmtu and have seen a significant improvement in my web page
display. I did a before and after throughput test as described at the
maxmtu web site. I also have run n2 on kali and it played smoother with
some blinking of the other car (very playable). I saw no major warping. My
connection to the other player had a latency of about .33.

However, i can't say that MaxMtu directly made any difference or we just
had a good connection. Without detail testing and tools to measure
performance, it's all gut feel.

What is hard to tell is

says...

I tried this setting and it has made little or no difference.  I do
know from fact however, that this process DOES work on a Network
which has congestion problems.

The reason it didn't work for me is our Internet department here at
work just switched our MTU to 1500.  We have upgraded all of our
800 USR modems to 56K x2 and USR told us to move the MTU to 1500.

I am still interested to see what a MTU of 576 does for the rest of
my internet access.  (such as Kali)  I will experiment with this
as I can.

If anyone else has their ISP running at 1500, let me know.  I would
be interested in your findings.
