GPaL...of course.

The question that remains is when. Sometimes life just gets in the way! But
don't start thinking it's never coming until the site goes down. I never
have convinced anyone to foot the bill for the site, you know! ;)

Apologies to everyone for the silence, but the new job and the major system
crash really did bring me to my communicating and developing knees. Nice to
be back in the neighborhood. Haven't slipped into a Lotus in months!

Can somebody give me a synopsis of what's happened in the sim racing world
in the last couple of months?

It was coming.  And coming.  And coming.  And then, it was waiting for the
1.1 patch.  So, we waited for the 1.1 patch.  And waited.  And waited.

Then, the 1.1 patch came out, and I haven't heard a single thing about Gpal
since.

Patch 1.1 came out, I believe you were still here at that time. Quite
some new problems with the patch, slow-motion problems when racing
online (like seen in GP2), the timing is not correct anymore under
certain circumstances (when timing a replay with a stopwatch, the GPL
time differs from real time). Randy is working on 1.2 at the moment.

Couple of new racing games coming up. We've seen the first screenshots
of GP3, some people allready tested it. Other upcoming driving games
or sims:
- Spirit of 39 (look excellent)
- Driver (demo available, arcade game like Midtown Madness)
- GP500 (The GPL of motor racing)
- Nascar Legends
- propable some more but these games I'm waiting for.

Ok, back to business: GPaL!  :)

The last thing we heard from you was that it was allmost ready, you
posted that 'GPaL tonight!' topic. Later that day the topic changed
into 'GPal tonight: late'. I was one of the guys who would test it
that evening. You mailed me and told me that you had a problem with
the installer. If that was the only problem, the final release
wouldn't be too far away. You postponed the release date with 2 days,
and then we heard nothing from you anymore.
No wonder people started to wonder if GPaL ever would be released.
I think we're all very happy that you're back (someone even suggested
that perhaps you died, he couldn't think of any other reason why you
were gone so suddenly :)

Bottom line: Is the only thing keeping you from releasing GPaL the
installer? Now that you're back, do you have some spare time again to
finish that installer problem?
No problem if it takes a couple of months or whatever before GPaL is
released, but me too started to wonder of GPaL would ever see the
light of day.
