Thrustmaster Nascar Wheel

I just got the Thrustmaster Nascar Pro steering wheel, and I'm
having trouble keeping the pedals from slipping around the floor.  They
also tend to tilt backwards when I press the gas/brake.
Anyone have a suggestion for securing them?  Nothing that will
permanently damage my floor, please.
    Thanks,
    Charlie

p.s. I'm fairly new to this newsgroup and it's GREAT.  I've received
a lot of good advice so far!  I also like the lack of flame wars.  What
a pleasant surprise.

Seriously low tech solution here I'm afraid!

I use a large piece wood which (fortunately for me) butts up to the skirting
board. Then I use a few large wadges of blu-tack to hold my pedals to the
wood.

Works for me, even when I'm trying to push that throttle through the floor!

Hi Charlie,

I've suffered through the same problems with my setup.  Here's what
I recently did that's been working *great* to solve the problem of the
base slipping & sliding around on the floor... I bought a "non-slip
rug cushion" from a carpet store ($7.99) and then cut it down to the
size of the base (I left an inch of extra padding exposed all the way
around).  It's worked great for me on a hardwood floor!  No more
slipping & sliding --- and no more worry over possibly scratching the
hardwood floor! :)

I still haven't come up with a workable solution yet however for the
problem with the base tilting backwards - other than to use my left
foot to help hold the base down... which, of course, then ruins the
valuable driving technique of left-foot braking. *sigh*

It sounds like you have a hard floor.  If that's the case, maye a large
chunk of carpet under your desk would help.  The desk would hold the carpet
down, and the carpet would keep the pedals from sliding.  This is the same
set I'm planning on buying here in a couple weeks, and I have also heard
that the pedals are a bit awkward.  Someone said that putting a shim under
the front make them easier to use.

Personally, I have a desk that is against a wall.  I would get some phone
books or the like and put them end to end between the wall and the pedals.
As far as them tilting backwards, I haven't had that problem, but I don't
push them that hard or sudden like some people.

Low tech but good results after ;-)   (maybe more... cheap technology !)

I just drilled it into the wood floor! Since my pedal unit if close to the
wall, and under my PC desk, I wasn't afraid to drill 2 hole and***the
pedal unit on each side.  Just remember to get it in the perfect way, since
you don't really want to do 2more holes because you don't feel confortable
;-)

It's a more reliable way, your sure they won't ever slip, but you need to
have the pedal unit always under the desk.  Use can use the base to relax
your feet also !

I sliced my carpet and wedged the front of the base under the carpet
through the slice.  At the back I wedged a wooden block between the base
and the wall.  I think I'll try to get the base to stick to the concrete
below the carpet with some double back tape or some velcroe as it gives
just enough to bother me when I jam on the pedals.

I use a paper-ream box behind mine, between the wall and the pedals. When it
starts to bend a little, it is time to buy paper......:-)......

Charlie,
        It depends on the flooring:
If you are on vinyl, or have a plastic office chair mat positioned
under your computer table to where the pedals sit on it you can go to
a local Fred Meyers, or the store of your choice with a home
improvement section. Ask for some non-skid material for holding floor
rugs, bath mats, etc in place. Tack some to the bottom pf the pedals
with some velcro or double sided tape and you should be all set <G>.
It is what I use under the adapter table I built to put my VPP at a
better angle. Not sure what you can do about it on carpet though, my
Chpedals haven't ever had a sliding prob on carpet.......

Hope this helps.
Ron

I have the same problem with the pedals moving around. I ended up putting a
block of wood in front of them braced to the back of my computer desk. I
also had the problem of them flipping up. The pedals took some force to
move. This was solved when one of the throttle springs broke. The great
support from thrustmaster sent me new springs for gas and brake pedals. The
new springs are slightly different and not as strong. In fact I ended up
putting one of the old springs back in because the throttle did not have
enough return force. Good luck.

Well, my pedals came with *** stickers tha go on the bottom of the platform,
and I use my foot to keep the platform fron tipping back.  Left foot holds the
platform down, right foot hits the gas and brake.  I hope this helps.
