Bethesda Softworks, publisher of the RPG Daggerfall, is preparing to
beta test their next big product, Redguard. An adventure game with
action and role playing elements, Redguard is scheduled to begin testing
in about 3 weeks. Fans hungry for new adventures in the world of Arena
and Daggerfall will love the swashbuckling adventure that awaits them in
Redguard. Featuring heroic quests, exciting swordplay, and rich
storytelling, Redguard stands out as refreshing tonic in a market
saturated with repetitive knock-offs and tired cliches.

Those who are interested in signing up to beta test Redguard should go
to Bethesdas website at http://www.racesimcentral.net/. The main page will
have a button for a questionnaire that will start the evaluation
process. If there are any questions about the questionnaire, please

committed to releasing a bug-free product, so anyone who wont be
capable of immediate response during the test period or is unable to
work with structured report formats should not apply. Base
qualifications for consideration as a beta tester is minimum age of 18,
willingness to sign an NDA and ability to access the Bethesda website.
We have 100 positions available and they are filling fast so make
contact soon.

No its not.  But this is a chance of a lifetime for people to be a
playtesterand why would you "PAT DOTSON" want to deny these people.

Don if you knew the heat Daggerfall got in the RPG newsgroups, then you should know to try to keep it out of here. I'm always looking for a killer RPG and Daggerfall was a complete disaster of a game when I first bought it when it was released. Returned it immediately.

You must be doing something with Bethesda, for the record I repicked up Burnout and will try the latest patch. If this game fails then I can categorically state their has never been a Bethdesa game I liked, I believe Skynet was Bethdesa and well received, but I wasn't doing the game thing then.

Email me a little about Redguard, I'm contemplating testing something in the very near future. I'm leaning towards Everquest ATM.

Because I'm a mean guy of course :)

And this is the "chance of a lifetime" for a sim driver
because....?

Because if anyone in *THIS* newsgroup was interested in being an RPG
playtester, they'd be monitoring an appropriate newsgroup.  Don't be such
a ***in putz, Don.

Now come on, he's the new marketing chief for Bethesda.
He can do that, I learned it a few days ago. And he's got the support of
wheel manufacturers, so it's okay... ;^)

Because, perhaps if a person is good as a beta tester in one area,
it will lead to him being asked to beta a racing sim from the same company!

QBM, Bethesda has decided to beta test all new products extensively before
releasing them. They have used the knowledge gained from dealing with the
beta
testers in post-burnout releases as the model for upcoming games. I can't
promise
RedGuard will be the killer game you are looking for but I'm sure the betas
will be
pleasantly surprised at what input they might have in the final product.
Burnout, is still evolving! The latest patch is getting closer and we
continue
to make improvements and find quirks. The only way we have been able to do
this
is through long hours of trying everything we can think of to find holes or
get the feel
of the sim right.
I know a lot of people attack Don for his points of view and antics but he
does
put in tremendous amounts of time and energy trying to better this product.
I don't always
agree with Don but his work ethic is second to nobody. And we the end user
will benefit
by having a better racing sim.

        Pete

Ronald, sorry to disappoint you but Don is a non-paid beta
tester for Burnout! I am as well. The fact that he is enthusiastic about
Burnout and what Bethesda is trying to do isn't a crime. I'm just as
enthusiastic as he but choose a different way to express it.
His enthusiasim has attracted responses from many firms wishing
to participate in our online racing sim. It is this enthusiasim that has
sold them!
It is going to take online racing to a different level than we have seen it
before.
Whether it is good or bad we will just have to wait and see.
We have been promised we will see this type of sponsored racing as
the wave of the future. One of the senior people at Ten stated this last
year at
a big computer trade show if I'm not mistaken. Nascar Racing by Papyrus
will
also be going this route at some time in the future if what I have read is
correct.
The fun element will still remain for those that choose not to partcipate
in money racing and I wouldn't want it any other way. I personally doubt
that I
will race for money in either Burnout or Nascar. I enjoy playing these sims
for enjoyments sake, but others have larger goals. Hopefully, there is a
place
for us all.
By the way Ashley Cheng is the head of Marketing and PR at the Bethesda.
Perhaps you could speak with him! :-)

In other words, in order to get some peaches, you have to also
accept a few pits.  Yuck.

Cheers!
