Daytona starts - not up to full speed

It seems like on any green flag start I top out at about 145 in 3rd

breaks and downshift into 1st gear *THEN* work my way back up the gear
box.  Of course, a few laps later my spotter is informing me I'm about
to get lapped.  Any ideas folks or did Papy drop the ball?

I've tried this start about a dozen times so far...

I'm not having any problems and I just shift at the warning light.
Assuming I don't miss a shift or lift I can keep up with the AI just
fine.  They seem a bit harder to pass on starts and restarts at
Tona/Tally than in previous versions altho every other track I've
tried they bunch up like an accordion until a few laps in.

Okay, what kind of shifting option do you use?  Manual w/ auto clutch,
manual w/ manual clutch?

Daytona starts - not up to full speed

Yeah, I noticed the phenomenon too. I personally think it is simply the new
SS package in the game, which includes a 'smaller' restrictor plate. Now in
N2002, just like at the 125's yesterday and the 500 on Sunday will be, it
takes a couple of laps and a draft to get up to full speed.

If you gear up (change gear ratios) to get good starts, you'll then end up
blinking the tach light all the way around the track in a draft. I think
they mention this in the book possibly.

Either that or your pot in your accelerator pedal is going/gone bad. Try
recalibrating and make sure the pedal is giving you  proper 'throw' or
travel in the cali screen.

Okay, I think I've discovered *WHY* it's only me who can't get up to
speed.  No matter how often I callibrate it, my wheel (TSW2Cup) isn't
getting full throw on the throttle.  :(  It just might be time to get
a new set of pots for the old girl (she's about 2 now...)

Anyone replace pots on a TSW2 Cup before?  Any tips?
