by gando.. » Wed, 01 Jun 2005 05:56:38

Help!!!  Installed my new HD and everything works fine except N2003
I get this message "Instalation appears to be incorrect. Please try
reinstalling N2003
season"
Any ideas?  I've lost track of all the add-ons & mods I have
installed. I REALLY dont
want to install again.

                                      TIA,  Doug D

Just do a clean install then copy your Nr2003 folder over the top.  Run the
config again and recalibrate and you should be ready.

Or if you really feel confident then open registry editor and search for 'NASCAR Racing 2003 Season.'  Then just change the registry keys to be the directory in which your install is currently in.

Actually gandalf,

I think, that is *THINK* you are seeing what happend when you simply just
copied the old NR03 folder back onto the fresh PC & tried to run it.

What you will HAVE to do, is to move that (good pre new system copy of
NR03)'s folder to a safe place (if you have backed it up somwhere like CD or
elsewhere on the Hard Drive, then you can get rid of this copy) then
gothrough the install process from the CDROM, you can install it where you
want it, but IMHO much easier if you just use the default locations!.  when
the install is done, you can delete the one installed copy's folder and
replace with your 'backup from earlier' copy...  then all should be Okey
Dokey...

If you are getting this error trying to install from cd (because you state
you got new HD, maybe you didnt have a backup copy of NR03?) I do NOT know
for sure where to go.

also, you're using XP I assume?

I got this with a fresh install and found that I have to run NR2003 in
Administrator mode (using Win2000).  It is mentioned (as a possiblity)
in the Readme.  I set up a desktop shortcut to "run as another user",
enter my admin pw, and away we go...
