F1 at Sears Point?

Old Bruton is at it again. He's upgrading Sears Point to full FIA
standards. He is also building a 3/4 to 1.5 mile banked oval on the
grounds. Maybe there will be a US Grand Prix sometime soon.

I would prefer to have a US Grand Prix at Elkhart Lake or Watkins Glen. Oh
well.
Can't have everything :)

Alright, yet another 1.5 mile quad oval to match his other tracks in
C***te, Texas, and Atlanta (November). I wonder how he will turn Bristol
into a tri oval?:) A US Grand Prix would be cool!.

...slightly off topic, but I'll contribute.

F1 back at the Glen or at Road America would be fantastic. Big catch
though, those tracks aren't up to FIA snuff. Not only in terms of
cosmetics, permanent garages, but also in safety standards. Never been to
the Glen, but I've been to Elkhart. As a spectator you can get REAL close
to the majority of the corners, with only a mere low slung steel gardrail
and a token picket fence seperating you from the track. Going to get
flamed for this, but I do like the intimacy that it provides. It really is
a rush to see drivers work the cars without the screen of a cage.

Lately, there have been a few glimmers in the way of possible sites.
Homestead is FIA licenced for F1 standards, as is Laguna Seca in certain
ways with their recent renovations. Unfortunately I just think that it's a
long way off until the States host (better read as pay for) a F1 race.

Maybe It's not true but I think the last F1 race that was at the Glen
they was a accident in witch a driver lost his life.  The next year the
F1 organisation boycott the track because it was to dangerous for
drivers.  Imagine turn one with F1 drivers today.  If a driver losses
the car comming into the turn (ex: Mika Salo ;-]  )  he's going to do a
heck of an airbone :-)   Thanks a lot,

Good race at the Brickyard, (Old'Indytrack guy)
