Entries differ depending on the car, the setup, and the particular
driver's style. I tend to turn in a bit more sharply than would appear
necessary to get the nose of the car pointed inside of the line I want,
then return the steering to neutral and use the throttle to maintain (or
adjust) the yaw angle to follow the line I want.

The tires will be squealing (they are all sliding when you're in a 4
wheel drift)

It's a delicate thing, but when you hit it right, it feels great.

Right.  The optimal slip angle described above is about 7-9% .

I bought a book over the weekend that had an article by Jim Clark in it
describing his driving style.  He said that his technique for corners was to
turn in early and a bit "too much", which caused a drift and creating what
he called a "false apex".  Because of the speed the car was carrying, it
would drift at a slight angle and caress the "real" apex.  The advantage is
that he was modulating the throttle the whole time through the corner (as
opposed to being neutral throttle waiting for the apex).  As a result he was
full throttle earlier, faster down the ensuing straight and faster for the
whole lap.

It was in a book call "Stirling Moss' MotorRacing Masterpieces".  Good
stuff.

Can someone please expalin the mechanics of a "4 wheel drift"?

I *think* I might be doing it, but I'm not sure......

How do you enter a drift? What sort of signs should I be looking for?

Should the tires be squeeling or not?

Also, how may laps does it take to get up to optimal tire temp?
