    hmm..  I didn't realize that.  I just automatically assumed it was a
regular road course. Hopefully someone will post a link.  I'll do some
searching, but just in case I don't find it.....   btw: you are close..  one
mile = 1609.3000 meters.  Thanks to those who pointed me to the US/metric
conversion sites :-)

1 mile = 1609.300 metre
1 mile = 1760 yards
1 mile = 1.6093 km

This is wrong. A statute mile is 5280 ft (exact).
The foot is 12 inches (exact) and the inch is
defined as 2.54 centimeters (exact)

I'm not sure I would trust a units conversion site that
actually puts zeros into otherwise significant figures...

Matt is right --

   1 m           2.54 cm        12 in.         5280 ft.
 -- --  x   -----  x    ----  x  -----  = 1609.344 meters/mile
100 cm         1 inch          1 foot         1 mile

Intriguing ... you say he is wrong, and then prove his answer.

2.54 x 12 x 5280 = 1609.344

Even more intriguing

1609.300 = 1609.344

? :-)

Nit picking, perhaps, but it's not the same is it ? :-)

Beers and cheers

now if that's true, is it ok to say:

1649.300 = 1609.304  ?  SCNR :)

BTW: Michael, if you really need different, special
test tracks, look into the GPLEA track creating tutorial.

Within an afternoon you should be able to do an oval
with any desired properties.
(I can do a driveable oval from scratch in 10 minutes, maybe
15 if you want banking :)

The really big part of track creation is the addition of details
(Trees, signs, spectators, houses, flagposts, the *** girl, etc..),
the AI, setups, cover, ..    none of this is needed for
your performance tests, so you really can be set within minutes!

x = 1609.300  =>  1609.2995 < x < 1609.3005

So no, even ignoring the typo "4" ;-)
