Can't hear other cars in GP2

Can't hear other cars in GP2

After all the recent discussion on GP2 in the ng I decided to dig it out
again last night.

Firstly it runs absolutely great on my P2 450, 128mb. Occupancy only
ever goes over 100% on the start line at Monaco, this is with full
details on everything in SVGA, such a difference to when I first played
it on a P90 all those years ago :-)

One problem though, if it is indeed a problem. I can't hear any sounds
of the other cars at all. I get all the music in the menus, effects
sounds and normal engine sounds for my own car but nothing for any
others. Now this may be normal it's so long since I last played it I
really can't remember.

My soundcard is a generic A3d.

Any ideas?

Also, has anyone managed to work out how to get split-axis in the game
with the MSFF wheel. I tried setting a profile with split-axis but
couldn't calibrate it properly.

Cheers.

Yes, this *is* normal. You can only hear sounds from your own car.

How quickly your memory has faded, Sean. :-)
The only engine sound that you will ever hear from within your car is your
own.

I use my MSFF in GP2 with split axis.  Sounds like you've already
created a profile for GP2 with the split axis option selected.  Then
calibrate the wheel in GP2 using the 'controller driven calibration'
option.  I think that is how I got it to work!

Hope this helps,

Neil

Its normal to only hear your car sounds in GP2. It was not programmed to
enable you to hear the other cars. It was programmed *5* years ago
though!

OK, I think maybe you will have to play around with choosing the axis
used for 'brake' in the GP2 controller setup screen.  Haven't got that PC
in front of me right now, will try to check tonight....
