SCGT 3dfx mode + Voodoo3 lockups

by MeatWate » Tue, 06 Jul 1999 04:00:00

I am getting frequent lockups when playing SCGT in 3dfx mode on my new
Voodoo3 /3000 AGP. It usually happens when hitting escape in order to exit a
running race/training/qualifying session, and it happens both with the
patched and unpatched version. I am using the latest drivers (v1.01), and it
doesn't matter which resolution is active. P2 350/128, STB VooDoo3 3000/AGP
o/c to 160 (that's not the cause), SB AWE64 (ISA), full install, permanent
swapfile. This did not happen some days ago with the good old VooDoo 1. D3D
is also great (speedy framerates!), but I'd favour 3dfx. Anyone?

I have the V3 3000 and it works fine...no crashes.

o/c to 160???  V3 3000 defaults to 166.  Did you turn down the clock??

I've got P2-450, MX-200, and I let windows manage my swap file.

I have a voodoo3 agp and it works fine BUT i did have to uninstall ALL old
video card files before installing the new voodoo3 drivers.
because i had a similar crashing problem when i swapped to the new voodoo3
from the voodoo2
that includes cleaning out any remaining glide drivers from your operating
system

You should also do a very thorough cleaning of your registry, assuming you
know what you're doing.
