This is getting ridiculous.  My main server crashed while a GPL league was
using it, so that's out.  My other server that had F1c on it won't connect via
F1rst...wtf?!?
I see that Neil has a race going at France - so thanks, Neil.
All I need is for SOMETHING to work right occasionally... :-(

Hang in there Eldred - we all appreciate what you do.

Stuff *never* fails when you don't need it. It's one of those rules,
like toast always landing butter side down.

Like Neil said, we appreciate all your efforts for us, and both Neil
and Dave we ready to stand in with alternate hosts so there was no
real problem. 'Course, you can host more drivers -- which would be
nice to have -- so don't start thinking we can get along without you.
<g>

I performed miserably, as usual. Once my concentration gets broken by
a mistake, everything just goes all to hell on me. You'd think I'd
learn and take up another hobby, wouldn't you? Good thing I'm too old
and senile to change now. (Or is it?)

We ran an open race, so there were three "outsiders" to boost the
numbers. There was some post-race discussion about cutting chicanes
and "tapping" other drivers out of the way. I have a replay saved if
anyone wants to watch the race: let me know and I'll mail it out or
post to a site if someone can recommend a site.

[snip}
Funny thing was it was one of the 'outsiders' that raised the point about
another one cutting - shortly before he left in a huff. In the early laps
there was no respect at all thta I could see. I was hoping for 'I'll tail
this guy for a lap to see where he's slow' instead I got 'I'll try this turn
20mph faster than ever before and if I plough into someone so be it'.
Actually, it wasn't too bad when things had settled but opening it up to the
great unwashed is not something I'd like to repeat ;)

I really respect you*** in there Darryl. If we can interest a few more
it'll make track time more interesting. Failing that, maybe a move to TPTCC
but the F1s are a unique challenge and it's be a shame to give up.

When do you all run?  I doubt I could be there every weekend, but if you
need a slot filled here and there, I'd be interested in showing up when I
can.  I'm not particularly quick (especially since I've not run every
track), but I've gathered not everyone is. :)

Could it be a race length issue? I don't what length races you guys run, but
most rooms only have 7-10 lap races... if it were a 30% race distance or so,
you could get punted/spin/whatever, and still have a shot at getting back in
the running.

I'd love to go a full 2 hours, pistops, failures, the works!!

Totally agree. The other racing series are too slow... NR 2003 is a good
game, but the ovals are hideously boring, and things like the ETCC/V8SC are
just less fun than F1.

As for quick... I'm certainly *not* quick. (Slower even than Eldred!
<VBG>) But I get such a charge out of doing it that I keep showing up
for races. One of these days the tooth fairy is going to grant me my
wish for a 30-year rebate on my age and maybe I'll be able to go
faster then. In the meantime, there's a very fast Jaguar on the
track, and a very slow Jaguar on the track.... But if the blue lights
on the steering wheel work, I'll try to stay out of your way.

Currently 40%

Yeah, we'd have 2 drivers - me and you.  That reminds me - I need to decide
whether or not I'll host a GPL full-length race this year...

Yes, please.

I want to *finish* one before you stop running them. I think I my
wife came in in the middle of the Nurburgring one and distracted me
enough that I forgot whether the next corner went gently right or
sharply right (and guessed wrong). And another time I think I went
off to avoid rear-ending someone.

Despite my problems, please keep them Pro rated as well. I like it
that people can't Shift-R to get back in after a screw-up. Even me.

If you do, I think I'd like to attempt it.  I'm probably still not good
enough to last the distance, but I'm curious how long I would last.

Boy that reads differently without the second "in".  Or is it just me? LOL

Well, I'm sure that would have been even MORE of a distraction...<g>

I'd have to decide on a track.  I think I used to host about 3 or 4 of these
each year.  But I've had so much ***going on this year that it wasn't high on
my priority list.
I think we've done all the original track except Monaco and Rouen.  Any
interest in either of those?  My next choice would probably be Snett67.
Comments?
