My BIG problem with Burnout.

My BIG problem with Burnout.

Why the hell doesn't the damn Automatic transmission shift?  Better yet, why
does stall speed effect a manual transmission?  Last I checked, a torque
converter and a clutch couldn't co-exist.  I can't even play this damn game
anymore.  I'm sure it doesn't matter to 99% of the people that have this
game since you all wan't to do 4 second passes, but what about the 300hp
cars that I am more fimiliar with?  You really need more than one gear.  Boy
am I annoyed.

Disclaimer-  If I missed some option or something in the game, I appoligize.
Please inform me.

Bill, are you using the software version or the 3dfx version of the game?
Sometimes I have noticed that if you get the torque peak higher than your
shift
point the *** will not shift. Try looking at your shift points in the
*** setup
and see if you have them high enough.
Actually, there are ***'s available but very rare where they did put
a clutch in an automatic ***. They weren't very popular because they
tended
to be hard to setup and launched quite ***ly. They called them Clutch
Flites
and were based on Chryslers 727 and 904 ***s.
If you are talking about the fact you can launch the car with a manual
*** like an automatic. Yes it can be done, you take your line-loc and
wire the
two-step into the same button. When the throttle is pushed forward the
engine
accelerates to the first level of the two-step and stutters ie. this is
where the
name stutter box comes from. It starts altering the rate of the cylinder
firing
in order to keep the revs down but not load up the engine excessively. They
can also wire in a hydraulic clutch release to also be activated off of the
line-loc
button. You press the clutch all the way in where it then locks into that
position
until the line-loc button is released. This device has been banned in some
classes.
But you can effectively make an manual *** launch like a *** with a
trans-brake.

I am using the 3dfx v.1.2.   I guess my real problem is that there is no
clutch.

Bill, I suspect once they start putting extra pedals on the different
companies input devices(maybe they already do ECCI? TSW?) or they
become more common. Then the software companies will add the ability
to have a clutch in theor games. It would be a nice option to have.
Maybe Trev could enlighten us on whether clutch pedals are
in the future.
Let me know if you got your shifting problem fixed.
