NFS:MC =)
Picked up a copy of SCGT at Fry's for $10 the other day (this game
rocks!!! and it acutally runs good on my PII 466 with a 4MB
rendition!!!) and of course it had some obligatory advertising
material...
A few pages in, something catches my eye...Need For Speed Motor City,
hmm, heard of this, hadn't looked at it much, the few graphics there
look pretty cool...hmm...'Build and race hot rods online'? 'Go online
to cruise, chat, and race other motorheads for pink slips.'?? This is
sounding eerily familiar... 'Be your own mechanic - build all the
Classic Mercs, Fords, Chevys from the ground up.' What the...?
No...it can't be...I'd heard they went to EA...
WOOOHOOO!!!!
There was this cruddy (by todays standards) yet great game back in
like '89 or something for PC, called Street Rod and then Street Rod
II...graphics were like 16 colors, sound was horrid, control was almost
impossible (since even on a joystick the input is digital - on or off),
yet the most pimpin thing about the game was that it was set in like
1970 or so (SRII was, never played SRI much...FWIW I just happened to
download these games a long time ago, never actually owned them) and
you got to buy all sorts of cool cars like Camaros, Chevelles,
Mustangs, and the like, and then have at them - 4-speed racing
trannies, racing slicks, 427 big-blocks, chop the roof, off-road pipes,
dual-quads or fuelies or blowers, take your pick...and then you got to
go cruisin and find someone who wanted to actually take you on - for
some money or even pink slips. I had heard somewhere the designers had
migrated to EA after their company broke up, but nothing more.
Those guys must be at it again!!!! They must have run out of ideas for
the NFS series and then stumbled across that great old game...and out
comes NFS:MC!!!!!!!! Life is good!!!!
